Can anyone provide a reference for mercury levels in the canned tunafish sold in Thailand? This article reports that, for canned tuna sold in the US, the "lowest levels of mercury were found in tuna from Thailand and the United States..." That sounds good but I wonder: might the tuna sold locally simply be unexportable mercury-laden tuna? Other articles here, here, and here. Thanks!

I'm not sure about mercury levels in tuna fish, but I do know there is A LOT of mercury in the Chao Phraya River. Perhaps these tuna are caught many km's offshore where the water is clean. I've had lots of tuna sandwiches here and I have yet to turn into a human thermometer!

You could try searching for the Thai public health office...maybe they'll have some information in English.
