Actually no. I get the idea on here sometimes that some people don't realize just what good friends and confidants the US and the UK are.

The Yard and the FBI hold joint training meetings, share technology, share DNA databases, etc. etc. It's the DNA databases that allow them to differentiate with such granularity just what it is that they have.

It goes a lot farther. The UK has developed a superb air to ground missile that the US has and uses. The UK has US stealth technology and actually has and flies stealth drones. The UK has 4 Trident submarines with deep water launch ICBMs that carry multiple nuclear warheads that can hit multiple targets with nukes anywhere in the world. That makes the UK one of the "Nuclear Club of Five" which has all of the methods of launching a nuke.

There is massive trust and friendship between governments and the US people would do anything for the Brits.

I give the Thai police credit for asking for help. Outside technology will give them a much better chance to identify suspects properly and correctly and most importantly R/O innocent people....Nothing worse in a serious crime to wrongly convict....

I'll leave the rest of your quote alone and focus on your last sentence/question . . . that's a simple one to answer . . . it's a high profile murder case involving tourists (that so far they have handled terribly and insensitively as per usual) and (from the looks of things) perpetrators of Asian descent . . . so their concern is the tourist numbers/dollars disappearing . . . simple as that.

Yes. I believe the messages we hear via media are not a realistic indicator of what the police know or who they suspect in most cases. There may be threads of truth to some reports, but it is impossible to know. The press in Thailand are not free, the powers that be know that the press are to be manipulated, and you can forget about anything like investigative journalism. There is so much censorship - self censorship and otherwise it is stupid to think one can learn much from the press in Thailand (and often most other places around the world).

From what I could tell the cream shorts in the photos (if they are in fact the same shorts on the victim and the asian guy) seemed to be bog standard board or beach shorts, which usually have a draw-string to hold them up. In effect they'd fit almost anyone or at least a smaller framed guy could still wear them without a belt.
