The Snake Tongs are 2800Baht.

Google Premium Leisure Products theres a page there.

I have bought mine as we get Malaysian Pit Vipers around our house

and i have a son...they dont mix. The Vipers are lazy and easy to catch.

But i would definatley think twice if it was a aggressive cobra or something.

i agree. if your not sure leave well alone.

I live near Nakhon Sawan. In the 12+ years on our plot I've only seen a snake a few times. As a farm boy from Oz I'm terrified of them, but at 65yrs now I've come to understand them more. We do have a few cobras I'm told, but they probably get caught and eaten. I would still keep well away if there was one around, but in general if you leave them alone they will do the same. So really no need for tongs excpt as a precaution ?

I cant agree more.

I bought mine as a precaution....for when the occasion happens....and it does...

I see my snake tongs like the airbags in my car....

I don't look forward to using them but good to know they are there.

The tongs are way more effective and safer than the big stick method I used previouslybiggrin.png

Worth every baht .....and now my friends in the north think so as well thumbsup.gif

2800 Baht?????

I can get a similar product at the "Everything 20 baht shop". It isn't as fancy and the grips are made from plastic but pretty much the same thing. They are designed for picking garbage off the ground so a slight modification of the jaws may be needed but not difficult.

It may not stand up to the weight of a king cobra but hell, last time I had one of those I didn't even sit up in the hammock much less try to stick him in a bag and tell him he wasn't welcome there. Most snakes you encounter are fairly small, three feet or less, no problem for a cheap garbage grabber.

Once I was awakened from a nap by my young daughter. She told me see saw a snake in the house. Do you expect me to chase the snake with a shoe?

Your clearly not looking for quality thensmile.png

Yes i bought one years ago from our local 20 baht tat shop...for my son to play with...didn't last the weekend.

If you have the time and the energy to faf on modifying 20 baht tat go for it.

Malaysian Pit Vipers are 80cm to 1m would you have the confidence to

grab one of these with your modified garbage grabber ?

Each to there own.

LOL, actually the modification is trivial if any and yes I would use that with anything smaller than a king cobra. I had a run in last december with a very aggressive snake and I wish I had a garbage grabber then. I had to make do with a bent piece of flimsy aluminum and a bucket. The little bastard caught me coming out of the shower and just missed my leg. After he got tired of chasing me around the room and I had a chance to put some pants on I was able to remove him from my house. Never did id him but he was fast and had eyes way bigger than his stomach.

BTW: pit vipers are pretty docile, if he got out of the tongs he wouldn't come at you fast enough to get you and you still have the tongs in your hand to turn him if he did come at you.

Good when snakes attack story...lol...before i had a snake tong we had a few snakes and it was hit and miss literally...

One day i was sitting working on my classic bike and this snake was darting towards me being chased by my 2 dogs...

i have never moved soo fast....at the time i only had one tong at the rear of the house...so i got it and then got the snake

and put it in a safe place away from the dogs...mind our dogs are useless...they bark and chase...but least i know there is

a snake around as i know their excited 'snake' bark...of course i now have another tong at the front of the house...

so if ever it happens again...its close by...i swear i nearly had night terrors...hahahaha...
