Anyone recently departed or arrived on an AirFrance/KLM codeshare from Europe? I was wondering what the situation is regarding disruptions, both here and in Europe.

I know - my question is about the effect of the strike on longhaul to/from Bangkok

I see, a friend of mine had some flights cancelled - he got an email about 24 hours before departure.

These were flights from the UK to Prague via Paris and then Amsterdam. As he was transiting on AF at CDG his flight was cancelled and he had to get a different flight exiting the UK, cutting Paris out of the trip and heading directly to Amsterdam.

In the end he flew out of the UK on KLM to Amsterdam where he stayed for a few days and then flew on to Prague.

Even though KLM and AF merged and are now part of the same company the KLM part appear to be operating relatively normally.

The issue is with the connections.

Thanks for the info. :) I booked KLM but got AirFrance codeshare via Paris and a short-hop european connection. :(

I'll hazard a guess that the long haul part of your flight is going to be from Amsterdam ?

If this is the case you might be able to salvage that part of the trip by flying direct to Schiphol and checking in there.

I say 'might' as it depends on how helpful they are being when they cancel a flight.

The AF Paris CDG-BKK flights are cancelled at the moment but the KLM flights to Bangkok out of Schiphol are running as scheduled, in fact one is about to take off in about an hour.

Flew back from AMS to BKK 8/9/14. We sat in the plane for 90 minutes past our take-off time whilst a new front wheel assembly was fitted - they'd sent the wrong one initially. This made for a very nervy take-off/landing. Complained on my return but have not had a response. I took the same flight last year and they had to import a complete new plane for some unexplained reason.

The breakfast was a slab of luke-warm egg masquerading as an omelette.

Need an alternative to Manchester for next year.

Presumably a KLM flight? I have had reasonably good experience with that service, apart from the usual complaint of the seats/legroom being only big enough for kids ;)
