Thing is they say 80 to 85% of the 'investigation' is complete.... They didn't say 80 to 85% of the case is cracked.

Sounds more like a pre-curser to a very soon to be issued admission of complete failure and closure of the investigation.

Which is what Thailand wants to see, well.... certainly the island police and certain 'influential' people anyway.

If they do actually get someone to go down for this..... it'll be a patsy.

I couldn't really give a kee what percent "you" think, I just want the real killers. No scapegoats or cover ups, this now sadly looks like it's gone too far up the connected chain to stop.

The case that seemed so simple at first is more complicated. Easy to criticize the police with about style:

It was necessary ...

They should have ...

But everywhere it takes time to investigators when the initial assumptions are unsuccessful.

However I also think that, like their general great master of all, these officers talk too much

If the couple had an altercation in the bar with lowlife (does not denote economic status) local male , then this male or males are main suspects. If this event did happen, as has been reported, then this investigation should be 100% complete with DNA evidence.

The couple's friends they were with that night (according to another report) say no altercation took place.

Good reasons to boycott the island -

Islanders, and Thais in general, prefer to 'show' than they did their best, but in reality are trying to protect their tourism industry. They don't give a damn about tourists.

There are multiple murderers roaming the island/s. I certainly won't ever be going there until the authorities show some sincerity in catching the killers. Hit them where it hurts... in the pocket!

So the murderer is 85% caught now all they need is his name and a confession and it will be case closed then we can shower them with just praise.

I hope there's a lot of pointing too, it just wouldn't be the same without it giggle.gif

That's what the last 15% of the investigation is: finding people to point at things for the press releases. Lot of money to be made in selling the rights!

Couldn't they at least make up some garbage - it seems to be a popular pastime lately.

"We do not have a warrant to arrest anyone yet, but the evidence we have points to someone who was in the area between 2am and 5am that morning."

Cases like this (random sex related crime with no motive) are always difficult to solve no matter what country they occur in. Many of the comments on this case are unjustified. The Thai police are clearly putting massive resources into solving it, and the PM himself has ordered action to improve security on the island and others in the area. If the perpertrators came ashore by boat will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. At present the police and the government appear to be doing all they can.

The killers will be found soon and put into custody. We are 10% away from being 100% done with the investigation. If all society works together we will definitely solve this crime. We are 90% done by solving this crime, thankfully. There are as of today no suspects and most evidence has been corrupted. We have taken the proper steps to ensure that a killer will be arrested by the end of the month we believe. We can now be peaceful with this revelation. Remain vigiliant. The public is the only hope for solving this crime which is solved soon.

I just realized that the RTP are the guiys who write American fortune cookies.

"The public is the only hope for solving this crime which is solved soon."

YES...because the police alone gives no hope! As an American saying goes, "Close only counts in horseshoes and grenades." - Frank Robinson.

Agree with you, but the police aren't exactly making it better with their stupid statements, postings of the victims on their FB pages or their refusal to accept outside help.sad.png
