Key witness says foreigner kills British tourists

KOH TAO: -- Eighth Region Police Command commissioner says police investigators have obtained a key witness who said foreigner killed the two British tourists in Koh Tao island.

The latest twist in the investigation was revealed Saturday by commissioner Pol Lt Gen Panya Mamen.

The Nation Online website quoted Pol Lt Gen Panya Manen as telling the online newspapers today that the team of police investigators have met a key witness who claimed seeing foreigner killed the two tourists.

No further details were produced as to whether the witness is a male or female or the witness is a local or a foreigner, and how many were involved in the murder of the two foreigners.

But this latest disclosure, if confirmed, will be a significant turn of the probe which earlier focused only on locals and migrant workers after DNA testing revealed the mixed semen found inside Ms Hannah Witheridge belonged to Asians.

More than 300 migrant workers and locals were rounded up to have their DNA samples tested. But none has matched DNA found in her body.

The disclosure of the key witness who the police still kept confidential would give new clue to the brutal murder of Ms Hannah and her friend David Miller.

I can...... but I'd have preferred not to. Why wasn't a British police rep sent over? Their parents can't be more distraught at not receiving closure yet.

IMHO this "asian" DNA was a load of old cobblers thrown to the media to impress them with Thailand's DNA processing skills. They felt safe to do so because the farang suspects had all been cleared, or at least those who had their DNA tested.

It's quite obvious to anyone with any day to day knowledge of Thailand what is going on here; why the BIB said this, why the BIB said that, why the BIB played for time, why the crime scene was fouled, why the junta said whatever, what the headman's ploy was with his reward and alibis, why foreign social media was criticized etc etc ...yawn...

And we are all supposed to act dumb and soak up this nonsense like uneducated serfs living in a bygone age.

What to do? If the Thai authorities cannot face the truth, should this not be raised to an international rather than a domestic issue?

The couple were assaulted and tragically killed in a fit of jealousy by the same locals after an altercation in the bar, who thought she was going to spend the night with David.

Although this was a great tragedy for the family, does it really rate as one of the world's great crisis that demands international investigation? What about all the Thais who die annually?

If a Thai was murdered in the UK it would be sorted. A UK citizen should be treated the same in LOS considering this part of LOS is virtually funded by tourism.
