I hope It remains the same for Koh Tao, they do not deserve to recover after this .

As many others have stated here, they are going to 'boycott' the damned place, as, why would anyone in their right mind want to go into any of the bars knowing, that smiling get, serving you a drink is a cold blooded murderer !

The Full Moon party is coming up in about eight days time, did they, out of respect for Hannah and David cancel it, no way , money again and we are all sick of i,t the attitude and the rest, this will not be forgotten ,keep blogging , getting it out there untill the FM partys are stopped.

Its a sick society that will continue on partying after this.

Well General , you going to do something that gives you some credibility over all this ???

Just feel ashamed on behalf of the victims parents and relatives.

What a shambles and what an unprofessional handling of the situation.

Thailand should be ashamed also.

Costas can I remind you of a very nasty case back in the UK at the moment. A missing, presumed dead 14 year old young girl where the police know everything about the prime suspect. Even down to he has already served a prison sentence for murder in his home country of Latvia yet was allowed to simply walk into the UK and stay. The head of Scotland Yard has just admitted they are clueless as to where the man is and that if he has left the UK he is virtually a free man. For some bizarre reason they haven't even issued an EU arrest warrant either.

Crime detection, especially murder isn't so easily solved like it is on the TV and incompetent police are worldwide and not just here in Thailand as most people are alluring to.

Yes mistakes have been made but that may just be because this type of crime is a rarity here.

I'm still hoping for a good outcome and am not ready to start Thai bashing just yet

Firstly, they have no evidence that she hasn't run away. Secondly, they have no evidence that she has been abducted. Thirdly they have walked that area where she may have gone missing with a huge search and discovered absolutely nothing.

This bloke has disappeared, so there is a good chance he may have something to do with it. He has left the UK, but the police want to see him and I would imagine that in time he will at least be questioned and then they take it from there.

So, I fail to see the comparison with what has gone on in the UK despite your effort to excuse what has happened in Thailand.

"So, I fail to see the comparison with what has gone on in the UK despite your effort to excuse what has happened in Thailand".

It's the usual apologists diversion!

My GF and I are returning to Thailand for a month in December. Last time, we spent 3 months in SE Asia, spending about 1 week in KT.

We had planned to return for about 4 nights to KT on our next trip. For now, we have cancelled the trip to KT. It's not out of protest, or a 2 fingers to the island, but more a personal thing... I just wouldn't feel comfortable walking along that beach at night with the GF knowing that some scumbag could be round the corner.

That said, if the (actual) killer(s) is caught and apprehended, our minds might change.

If there are 4 or 5 'influential' families, and, the murderer/s is commonly known amongst the locals to be from one of them, that leaves 3 or 4 other 'influential' families whose activities and profits will be severely diminished, and, given the nature of these types, they will seek recompense or revenge. The 'authorities' need to administer real justice now. As a cynic, I believe that further payoffs will be made in order to cover up another murder or two, something along the lines of 'backpacker murderer commits suicide'. Case closed.

Good. If only tourism on Koh Tao would stay down. Year after year after year.

Trip Advisor has been mentioned on a few of the relevant Koh Tao threads as of lately. There was, now closed thread "Should We Still Go", with negative reviews removed. I was not quick enough to have seen the negative reviews "Should We Still Go" but one TV poster has confirmed their existence in an earlier post. Some question Trip Advisor and even laugh it off as no surprise. I do...

I Just identified a new Trip Advisor thread "Is Koh Tao Open" I will also post this on the other active Koh Tao threads here on TV.

Many, TV members that have posted on the relevant Koh Tao murder threads have claimed the need to warn and educate the uninformed tourist of potential or realized safety concerns of/on the island. It is a need, same as any other destination. I could care less if the island economy is booming or in decline. However, I am curious to see if any one here takes two minutes to sign up, sign in, and post there opinions on the relevant Trip Advisor thread.

Should be interesting...Should also be interesting to see how quickly Trip Advisor closes the thread.

The above is my reply/post on the "Grand Travel". Just to be clear, I will not be taking the time to create a Trip Advisor account and post my two cents as I do not care how the island is impacted by good or bad press and find that any effort is a waste. I do not have a dog in the fight as I have no good or bad experiences associated with the island. Ethical and moral issues with how the situation, involved parties and their actions and how the case has been handled, yes.

i used to rate and use trip advisor but not so much anymore after they, for no justifiable reason barring they were negative, removed some posts about koh samet and the Bangkok sky train.

They have serials killers on the loose.

Stay home after 10pm

attachicon.gifuploadfromtaptalk1412105695676.jpg

Yes its most certain the killers will strike again according to leading criminal Quacks who study the behaviour patterns.

I viewed photos of the victims it was haunting and i regret doing so- but the images were sent in a click by a law enforcement friend.

Their view is the people who did this were particularly barbaric and most certainly crazed.

Extreme 1st degree Murders of the most heinous type almost always reoccur when sexual violations are also a part of the killings.

These people must be caught - it simply is true to say you do go there knowing they might well be the Water Taxi driver - Fruit stall man- bar staff - or beach comber passing you.?

These people are evil and almost certainly are deranged sexual predators who will lust for more of the same.

The connection is that a murder investigation in Thailand and a suspected murder investigation in England both remain unsolved, to date. The other connection is that both incidents are still under investigation.

These connections are relevant when posters here continue to slag off the Thai police as though they are the only forces in the world not to be able to solve crimes as easily as it is made out to be on television and in films.

I believe the % of solved murder cases in the UK last year was 95%.

Two people were brutally murdered, one raped, on a relatively small island. The first statement issued by the police that they locked down the island was inaccurate. The photos of the crime scene with people, including potential suspects wandering around, doing as they please speaks volumes for the level of police professionalism, as does the farce about measuring the feet of Burmese ladies and the announcements of imminent arrests. Note the Thai suspects were cleared with one of the fastest DNA test ever. First they couldn't establish race due to the poor equipment here, then they could. Then they could process the Thai suspects' DNA in record breaking time, Round and round in circles with a multitude of different stories played out to the media. All made worse by the crass and insensitive comments made about the victims (many of which were untrue and clearly just made up by the officer for the media) and the inevitable obsession with repairing any damage to the tourist industry.

No police force is perfect. Some much more professional than others. The RTP are probably on a par with their colleagues in India rather than Europe or America.

Was it the Thai police or the Indian police who arrested that other Thai tourist killer Charles Soraj.

The remnants of the British system still work to some degree in India.

Yes it's very possible the murderers will become more brazen and audaciously attempt a second crime when the opportunity arises ( like Full moon parties)

It will completely destroy the Tourism if they did manage a second crime soon.

It's outrageous this event is still being held .

In the west car races are stopped , concerts cancelled , events cancelled when an accident causing death leads the celebration or event into tragic circumstances.

Thailand the show must go on .

Even with Murderers on the loose .

$$$$

No respect is bad enough but that's endangerment to public safety.

If something happens Thailand would certainly be crucified with staging the event.

I have left this alone until now.

Today, October 1st.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/alice-gross-police-body-river-234905833.html#935XClG

Sad news but nobody is going to pay their way out of this one, nobody is going to publicly front money to the police even though everybody is sure that they are intricately connected with the crime. Now to capture their Latvian and question him. I would imagine that the body will spend some days being examined for evidence which will be properly documented. Plenty of DNA samples will be taken and Mr Latvia will not be allowed to decline the request for his sample.

You are plain wrong. Our tax payers money goes to ensuring we do have a police force that is capable. Sure they have too few numbers on the streets but they are very good at getting their man (or woman). If the population of Thailand paid their taxes, if the politicians could keep their hands out of the cookie jar and if the money could be assigned in the right directions then Thailand could proudly say the same.

If the world saw the photographs of the injuries inflicted on the victims by those scumbag murders, then I'm sure no one would ever go to Koh Tao again!

The general should send in the army to all three of those islands and clean up the place so it's safe for everyone...

this was a tragic murder - no doubt.

but Koh Tao is safe and always has been.

Bangkok is much more dangerous. Heck, just driving on Thai highways is much more dangerous.

with regards to Koh Tao or any other island where this tragedy could have happened, people need to get a grip on reality. A motorbike taxi in Bangkok is 1000 times more dangerous than a vacation on Koh Tao

I suppose you are a male and not a young female tourist, if this group of people was capable of this crime and maybe get away.

Doesn't help Koh Tao even if you do stupid comparisons with highway traffic. These rape/killers are maybe still in Koh Tao.

Do you have statistics that Bangkok are more dangerous.

Grip of reality, tell the victims family that.

I curious to know how many cases there have been of people being raped and beaten to death with a garden hoe on Thai highways in say the last 50 years ?

I am going to take a wild guess and say Nil, Zero

and how many people have been bludgeoned to death with a motorbike taxi ?

Koh Tao tourism tumbles.

It should not only tumble, it should disappear completely!

Especially after reading in BP today, that Royal Thai Police advisor Jarumporn Suramanee thought , that spending 860k on DNA-test was too expensive. According to him "way too many" tests were conducted!

So about 13.000 $ per victim is considered too expensive to solve those brutal murders.

Forum rules are preventing me from using the language needed after such an insensitive statement!!bah.gif

Let's just say it proves again, that it is all about money in Thailand. Hardly a surprise to any posters here!

Agree, and when they let suspects off , who can say no im not guilty but i wont give a DNA test ...............whats that say !!!

And now, sadly after a week of heavy searching in the river they have found the body and the statements coming to press are formal and respectful.

They will issue a European warrant and arrest the guy. No blaming the victim and covering anything up.
