Watching them and brief discussion with. Here the brand is Jericho in New Zealand it was Dead Sea. Tactics are exactly the same as I watch them in Central Mall. They target old people with over priced cosmetics, and sell them buckets of the stuff. When they bust them on NZ television two months ago they all fled the country. Only then was the illegal activity of non declaration of earnings and lack of work visas exposed. Be aware of these people if your old vulnerable family go near them. They should be reported to Thai immigration for a probe. They will certainly flourish undetected among the standard thai corruption

Sure thing, mate.

Since you're such a good Samaritan, why don't you grass out these "people" to the Thailand immigration police?

On the high markup for cosmetics thing, I don't think that's any kind of crime but more like standard practice in that business.

There are movie stars paying 25 dollars for a bottle of water. Marketing is what creates the price not the quality. This company will flourish as long as customers are convinced of their products. After reading dozens of reviews, they seem to have as many loyal customers as they do complainers.

Perhaps if you had specific allegations, you could report them but as is, your post sounds a lot of and possibly opens you up to libel. I hope that you use a VPN when posting things that could get you taken to court.

*How is selling overpriced crap a scam ? If it was 90 percent of the shops here would be guilty regardless of religion.

You can just say no you know. Not sure what that is in Yiddish but somebody may help you with that whistling.gif

I have been bailed up by them in central festival pattaya, and also the local shopping centre in australia.

It's not a scam but high pressure selling.

They put some salt or something on your hands with their cream and it actually feels pretty good. After the demonstration I just said no (firmly) and after a few more sales tactics the guy got the message and all was ok. It was expensive 3000 baht per tub if I remember correctly

I would say all that expensive makeup is a kind of scam......

Never seen any women that looked better with tons of it in her face.

Oy veh, this OP has got to be a real mashugana to think anyone would come all the way to this Thailand place to sell toilet waters!

What? Out of the trunk of my car, already???

What a putz this one is.

Same thing in major malls in the states. noticed it last holiday season when I went back.

Aggressive tactic where they come up to you and basically give you a nice hand massage with their dead sea salt crap. Then of course, they offer you something way above your price range, so that their second offer, much cheaper, seems like a deal. The girls act super slutty. One chick gave her number to my buddy and said he should call her to party sometime. Cant say it didnt work - he bought a bunch of their stuff. But I dont think he ever hooked up with her. She was from Israel, studying in the US, bla bla.

Scammy maybe but not really illegal as far as I saw.

Yes he does, so it's not necessary

I think it's obvious that his wording has been thought through.

I reckon they are selling products made of Dead Sea salts/mud, etc.

There is some scientific evidence these products have healing properties.

Believe it or not. Up to you.

I understand the products can come from Israel or Jordan, on the Dead Sea.

If you're in the neighborhood, why not visit lovely Mount Sodom? whistling.gif

I know that's on my Bucket List, or the B replaced with an F, more like.

JT,

I think your correct, regarding Thailand, my Mrs bought 9k worth of the stuff in one of the malls, think it was in BKK, there was a guy there who was doing training with the sales people and got talking to him and he said the international portion of the business is his, he is a South African Jew (he described himself that way) from JHB and had come over to do training with the Thai franchises that have been set up, but did say the "mother" company is in Israel and pretty sure said the owners of the Israeli end where family of his ?

Now he could have been spinning me a line, but cant see what would be gained, my Mrs had already bought stuff, and he did give her his Thai mobile number and an email address and did actually call to see what she thought of the product she bought, which my Mrs said is good stuff, not that I would know...laugh.png

so yes pressure sales, yes maybe "expensive" which is relative I guess, does the stuff do what it says on the box...its seems to

Scam don't believe so, International Jewish conspiracy to corner the market in over priced cosmetics...laugh.png ...don't think so, think the froggies have already cornered that market

it does appear the stuff is "good quality"...over priced no idea, I was alway led to believe "ladies" products are always expensive...laugh.png

I mean what is the difference between a Tesco's plastic bag and a Gucci handbag ? you can carry things in both of them, but my Mrs doesn't believe me that a Tesco's shopping bag is perfectly adequate to carry her make up, and all the other crap she has...w00t.gif

If the products do contain Dead Sea salts and muds (hoping they do if they make that claim) then their products have value if you seek Dead Sea salts and muds. There is only one Dead Sea and they aren't making a new one.

I 've seen them many times in the malls, they are very agressive in approaching their victims but if i stay near my wife they don't bother her. The next day they will try it again though.

I have been wondering how they could get permission to harass customers this way. It is like the Indians on Kaosarnroad, they give me a bad mood from shopping there. Those guys give us farangs a bad name in Thailand.

Posted

Now this subject has finally been raised can somebody explain to me how come these people are permitted to do these jobs? I really thought that working in a show-room/shop environment was solely a position for a Thai national?

They were far from aggresive to my wife and even put some lotion on my hands ,we laughed and joked but my wife uses amway stuff so would not buy anything deleted

not relating to this specific case per se but it all depends what is written on the work permit, if they are described as specialist consultants, sales training specialists etc...its conceivable some could be issued a WP working in a show room/shop environment
