It amazes me, the nonsense that people get themselves into in Thailand. Who would have that an engagement to a stranger over the internet could have possibly been disappointing?

If you don't invest big here you can't lose big here!

But since you have seek the advice of an English Speaking Lawyer in Thailand. Find one online, or ask others for good ones. You can probably pay by Direct Bank Deposit, Credit Card or Pay Pal, so you won't have to come back here. Courier you documents.

Good Luck!

haha - Yes! If you end up in a terrible marriage starting with strangers over the internet; the obvious solution is to throw more money at strangers over the internet! That's the ticket.

Get a lawyer.. Next time make sure you live with the person for an extended period before committing to anything. Then you know what your dealing with. But I guess living here and teaching English wasn't an option.

If you really want to follow this through put your story in ask a Lawyer, they will probably ask you to contact them to get the full story. You sound like you have a few dollars so pay the experts (lawyer) for the best advice, not the ThaiVisa guys

Like everyone said, if you want to live, just walk away and go home. if you want to fight the case and take custody of your child. perhaps you should secretly film the threats you receive from her, that will be good evidence in court.

"Only spend what you are prepared to lose". I have to say that's the best advice I've ever seen in relation to Thailand. Another piece of advice given by a now-deceased American living here was " If it flies, floats or f..ks, it's always cheaper to rent".

Wondering how someone semi-literate managed to accumulate $120,000.

No helping for any guy as daft as the OP.

(this can't be real)

America is a "melting pot" of many nationalities. Many, many Americans aren't native English speakers. I ran into a young gal working in a large grocery store and asked her a question about where to find something. As soon as she began to answer I knew she was Thai. We had a very good short conversation about Thailand.

I'm not bashing you because your posts are very good. But you know that many people in America aren't native English speakers.

Cheers.

You shouldn't slag off someone whose first language is not English. There are many people out there that are completly illiterate and are multi-millionaires:

The man who invented the "Cats Eyes" used on the roads worldwide was completely illiterate and became a multi-millionaire.

Andreas Panayiotou, a London real estate tycoon worth £400 million (roughly $650 million), lives on a 20-acre estate and owns several private jets. At just 45, he’s come from humble beginnings as the son of Greek immigrants and is now ranked as the 200th richest man in Britain. And he can’t read.

If he was literate he would know better than to buy private jets and simply charter them. I think we can extend that anology to the OP.

The only guy I know personally who owns a Lear Jet leases it back to a fixed base operator (FBO) who uses it for charter flights. That makes my friend's jet a business and gives him a ton of tax write-offs. When he wants to use it he simply pays for fuel and for the pilots. That keeps him from needing his own staff.

He tells me that this allows him to have the jet for free.

Rich people didn't get that way by being dumb.

She was supposed to be a virgin, but was not. So important? Then you spent so much money on a marriage and bought houses and cars for a woman that startet to be dishonoust with you from the beginning? How stupid can you be? What gain did you think you would get by spending that much money on a person you didn't know? I haven't met my gf father yet, even though she and I are living together for nearly two years. Reason? Her father wants to make a big party and see a lot of money. Which - if I had it, wouldn't even bother to bring. What for? So he could show off with my "wealth"?

Do you know that Thais and in general all people of this planet earth, consider someone who wants to be the rich guy in a poor environment STUPID? A Thai likes people who know how to deal with money. Not someone who spends like hell and doesn't know how to take care of himself.

And now crying on this forum for help.

But be assured, you are not the only one. You are one of a long line of idiots who did just that. Thinking that spending all your cash is the way you have to do it.

Is confused american for real? smells like a troll to me, well his english is very poor so he could be that dumb.

He would have to be that dumb to get involved with such trash and spend so much money. What really bothers me is that so many stories like that happen so frequently. How do so many stupid/naive/ignorant/desperate men even live long enough to make the plane trip to here?

I think a little harsh as a lot of men just have a good kind generous heart and want to have fun etc while looking after the lady that makes them happy and dont forget what gives some thai ladys the right to lie, cheat, and rob and then go to temple and think they are good lady, how soon some forget bought up on dirt floors and work rice paddies.

....unfortunately....'welcome to the club'.......

...only recourse would be legal proceedings....with doubtful outcome.....and costing you a fortune....

...the question is.....why is nothing done about this phenomenon at a legislative level.....to deter or stop it.......

I think you " rushed into things far to quickly " There is nothing wrong in meeting lady online but i do believe in taking things slowly.Get to know each other, become friends first for maybe months, years even before jumping straight in (like many farang)

I would cut your losses and get out now before your life turns into a " Jason Bourne Movie "..............

I am in the same situation paid for everything (I have all the receipts to prove) she stayed with me for two years then left

and next thing I get a summons to appear at the high court she first said that she paid for everything (but was unable to

prove it) so next she said she was with me for more than two years which made her my wife!!!!!!and entitled to 50% but after

several court appearances she then changed her case to.... I had gifted all I owned to her.... I have been in court now 4 times but will not give in I have all the proof I need to back me and a good Lawyer who I have faith in

The only down side is that it takes so long my case has been adjourned 4 times and is set for early next year by the way I live near Phuket and if you live near here I can recommend my Lawyer....I say never give in.

I love stories like this, they are as perennial as the seasons. Clearly mankind has now passed the apex of evolution and is destined only to sink back into the primal sludge.

The lure of sex has an inordinate power over some men (and some women) that pulls them into making all

kinds of irrational decisions just so they can fulfill their lust. They choose to believe whatever will sooth their

egos so they can feel "loved". This desire equates sex with love, so caution is thrown aside in order to "have"

sex. with the sex object. When I was a youth back in the 60's we had more respect for love. The phrase,

"having sex" was not yet in our vocabulary. We spoke of "being in love" or "making love", as something

that accompanied a committed relationship, usually marriage. As the pursuit of sex for its own sake became

more acceptable, respect for "true love" waned. Pornography came out of the shadows and further twisted

men's reason as sexual addiction became a 'disease' to be reckoned with. As some on TV are wont to say,

..."just saying".

Read "Sex at Dawn"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_at_Dawn

and see the research into the standard narrative, and suggested answers to many of the questions about why human sexual behaviour is what it is.

If your are squeamish, skip the chapters on human experimentation.
