sean deleted his facebook profile a few days after leaving thailand after media reported his previous conviction.One of his sisters deleted her profile yesterday. The same sister who had defended him in a comment under an article about his previous conviction which i thought was conveniently produced to defame him and undermine his statements relating to the murders. Sean's girlfriend still has her facebook open as does sean's other sister.

Please Sean's family and loved ones, if you are reading this. Please encourage Sean to make a full statement to British Police or a written statement witnessed by a lawyer. Make a full statement and get it to Andy Hall who is representing the Burmese men. Sean is safe now but others are not. I think he's got a moral duty to do so for his friend....

I unfortunately stumbled on the rotten fruits of what must have been a long spell of his "deep composing" half an hour ago at the end of the "phone planting" thread. It was almost sad to read him comparing TV questioners to people who believe Elvis is alive.He issued this with a flourish at the end of his rant.

I think in the analogue world he is probably very lonely.

Someone so hellbent on putting others down is usually deeply insecure and unhappy.

Myanmar Officials have today ( 07/10 ) stated that they are happy with the way the investigation has been conducted towards their citizens.

There is no surprise to anybody with this statement, however, I suspect the UK Authorities will need more convincing that the case has been conducted with professionalism and clarity.

This afternoon I saw Sorayuth on Channel 3 interviewing a police forensic scientist who was saying there was DNA found on Hannah's nipples from two males, neither of whom were David or the two suspects. I wonder what that is all about.

There is a Youtube clip in Thai of Khunying Pornthip saying the the Koh Tao case is a "cover-up" (kati ampran). Haven't seen any reports of that elsewhere.

Apparently there is a press conference by the police this afternoon which will also have UK ambassador present - should be interesting given he tweeted last night that he has not commented on the case so far and denied complementing the RTP on the investigation as reported a few days ago.

What is the real moral to this story? Well, one of them is that we are not going to see any meaningful change, to the fabric of Thai society. Many of us were incredibly hopeful that we would see some positive changes. And I think it is quite possible that Prayuth, and his top guys have their hearts in the right places, and want to see this change take place. Many expats, and many Thais really want to see progress, and want to see this country moving forward into this century. Yes, we will see some land crimes solved, and some illegal beach vendors removed. But, in terms of dealing with the massive corruption issues, the kind of power guys like the headman of Koh Tao have, and their ability to abuse that power, and positive changes at an institutional level, and at a national level, where it really counts, many of us now doubt it will happen. This case proves, that many are still above the law, and even the Army cannot touch them. That is the devastating moral to this story. A very disappointing outcome indeed.

Simple solution Mr. Prayut with all respect, ban for a while of any tourism on this island and somebody will open the mouth.

Money counts, this is the only powerful weapon dry this bastards out.

However, he said, their stories were “somewhat inconsistent” and “their faces portrayed fear”.

“From what we have learned, there are inconsistencies with both the forensic report and evidence provided in the case,” said Aung Myo Thant.

“The defendants kept repeating that they were very drunk that night. Based on what we have been told, it seems to us like this case is a set-up and not based on hard facts.”

Speaking to DVB on Monday, Kyaw Thaung, a representative of the Myanmar Association in Thailand, who attended the interview with the defendants, said, “We went to the prison [on Koh Samui] and were allowed to meet with the two freely. They confessed to committing the crime under the influence of alcohol. When asked for further details, they said they bashed the victims two or three times each with the blunt end of a hoe, but not with the sharp end. They said they did it because they were drunk but did not intend to kill the couple.

If these two Burmese guys are found guilty then Thailand is damned to hell, it's image will never recover, the cat will be well and truly out of the bag. Until recently they have pulled the wool over some people's eyes some of the time, but with the growth of social media they don't seem to realise the same old lies and deception and just picking on the favourite scapegoats that they think most Thais despise will just not work any more. They have been surprised by the reaction to the usual BS and incompetence, but when we recall some recent outrageous miscarriages of justice blatantly carried out in this country over recent years by the rich and connected it's hardly surprising they thought it would all be put up with again. The encouraging thing is that even Thais do not believe their own Police force or government spokesman. The truth will come out in the end, but I doubt if it will be from a Thai source.

The lawyer said Win Zaw Htun had asked him to “please protect us in accordance with the law.” Aung Myo Thant said the migrants signed a power of attorney document over to the embassy’s legal team, allowing it to represent the accused men in court.

Thai authorities denied a request by the Burmese legal team to meet with another Burmese migrant Maung Maung, who is being held by Thai police as a witness."
