Having lived here 10 years, and been spending time in a Thailand since 91, then it is sadly no surprise, even though it is repulsive and anger provoking. The ineptitude and corruption that is all to evident will goon for a lot longer. The lack of a functioning police force that is respected and trusted is all to evident.

The majority of Thai people, I have found to be good people and that view hasn't changed. I will certainly give Koh Tao a miss, and advise any family and friends to do so, but I'm not going to condemn a whole nation.

That is good to hear.

I have lived in Thailand for over 30 years, without incident or any major problems, although I was working abroad for a good part of it. Each day I stay in Thailand I grow to like it even more, considering myself lucky to be here, because if I reached a point where I began to feel unhappy and discontented in Thailand, then I would move on, as no one is forcing me to stay here, and the same applies to everyone else who is not Thai - and this is not one of those f/off home if you don`t like it jibes.

I totally agree that Thailand is not the paradise as portrayed in the travel brochures, some of it leaves a lot to be desired. But please tell me; is there anywhere that anybody can call Utopia? I could describe life in Thailand for me as a place I am less miserable in, but that`s life because nothing is perfect. I just plod on with things, I don`t whinge and I don`t complain, keep my head down and try to make the most of it, and why I have a no tolerance level towards those that continually moan about Thailand and everything Thai.Thailand is far from perfect I agree, and even the Thais have an expression; THIS IS THAILAND, meaning, they love this country for the simple reason that it`s not perfect and this also applies to me.

What happened to that tragic couple is a diabolical horror, having 3 young adult children myself including a daughter of similar age, that heinous crime has hit home to me hard that there are evils out there that can smash peoples lives within an instant, far worse than any horror movies I have seen and that`s where these evils belong, on the screen not in real life, but SADLY these things happen and can affect anyone of us, at any time, wherever we are, these crimes are not exclusive to Thailand.

As I have said on here countless times, I am withholding my verdict on the case until the situation progresses further, I am hoping that later the families of the tragic victims will make a statement and to see if any further evidence comes to light. Until then I am not making any judgements and I am not condemning the police and I am not taking any of the theories and social networking statements from so-called witnesses who never come forward and the Cluedo crime specialists seriously until there is hard evidenced placed on the table.

I am positive that as they say; all will come out in the wash sooner or later and I believe that there is a lot going on behind the scenes with the victims families and the British authorities that are not being disclosed to us for the present and to see how it all stews before stirring the pot.

This case is shocking in many ways, but people are more fascinated by the antics of the police in this case. Try as they might to do things by their traditional methods, everything is under the spotlight of social media. I think people are very discouraged by the performance so far. Every opportunity to be correct and transparent results, in the opposite, and the hole gets deeper. So much face on the line, a bomb is ticking somewhere. A potentially pivotal case for this nation.

i have just about seen it all here in thailand, but over 31yrs.i have not seen anything like whats going on with this investigation.

like one of tv.member puts it the more they try the more they are digging a deeper hole.for 55yrs.i have been a fisherman but i still learn and are not afraid to ask for help.the whole world is watching what is going on and the fiasco with the investigation, yet will they ask for expert help NO they think they know it all.as in the past its easy to pay and forget, but i am sure this case wont be that easy, wether its too late to call in outside help i fear its yes as there is too much face to loose.

if this case was in another country it wouldnt get to the court front door,so for the sake of the nation PM please take some private outside help.

OK. I've let it run hoping it will get back on track. I can understand members wanting to discuss the merits of the investigation, so now if you can please post your thoughts on the many topics running in the news section.

Thank you.
