Universal doubts cloud 'perfect' Koh Tao murder investigation

Has anyone on this forum have any sort of knowledge regarding forensic science? We all know that the Thai police ruined most of the crime scene and evidence by their, I would say, deliberate incompetence. I would really like to know whether was possible for the British forensic team to recover DNA samples of culprits from David and Hannah's bodies considering that bodies were frozen for quite some time.

Basically if the British team recovered valid DNA samples from the unfortunate victims then it is going to be increasingly difficult for the Thai police to use mixed up DNA samples in order to frame Burmese guys,

How can we know David was attacked by a left handed person? I must admit that his wounds don't look like what I'd expect to see from a hoe, especially the blunt side but I'm not basing this on any scientific understanding. This is my biggest doubt in relation to David being attacked with a knife: in a struggle with someone who brandished a knife, wouldn't you expect more slash wounds to David's arms and body? I can't bring myself to believe the attacker would primarily stab into David's skull during a fight- I just can't get the image.

Think about it, it is said to be a knuckle knife held between your fingers a punch knife and yes that kind of knife would be suited for head and neck bunches less effect on the body.
When I saw the photos of David's wounds and how most were on the right side of his neck, with some on the right side of his head, I thought two things: I agreed it was likely a stubby 'push knife' and I surmised the attacker was left handed. However, upon further reflection, the attacker could have been a rightie. Have you see how Thais fight? Clue: they don't fight fair, as westerners squared off facing each other might expect. If a fight starts with a Thai, several things happen very quickly: he has all sorts of buddies on his side, and he'll likely pick up the closest weapon, even if very damaging, like a metal pipe or broken bottle.

Anyhow, a likely scenario has Hannah being set upon by rapists, and David coming to her defense. An attacker could likely assault David from behind with a push-knife, thereby causing the nasty wounds on his neck and head. The attacker could then be a rightie, and would also know that those blows were intended to be fatal (not at all warning shots).

Also, the photos of David's wounds don't look at all like those caused by a dull old crusty hoe. The sharp end of a dull hoe would have left bludgeon-like ugly wounds, not the clean same-sized stab wounds which David suffered. The cops mentioned, when first investigating, that although there was a lot of blood on the hoe, none was David's. However, for the micro-managed reenactment, a hoe was indicated, thereby falsifying their own prior claims.

Cops should be looking closely for suspects who were seen with, or known to have had a push-knife type weapon prior to that fateful night. They could interview all people in the vicinity who sell such weapons, and friends/acquaintances of headman's people and their cop buddies - who may have owned one recently.

As for Sean: I implore him to go a.s.a.p. to a British consulate and make a signed declaration, get it notarized and express mail it to the British embassy in Bangkok - so they can get it to the attention of the Thai court. If sent direct to investigators, it will be lost or destroyed, because it conflicts with their desired scenario which frames the Burmese lads.

He may be trepidatious about getting back involved with the messy investigation, because of allegations that he had some porno pics and/or he may have been involved with slipping Hannah a Mickey (clandestinely getting her to take some sort of date-rape drug). If true, those are not slight accusations, but they pale compared to the gravity of the crimes committed against David and Hannah.

Andy Hall on Twitter: In final stages of appointing independent lawyers for accused Koh Tao murder case defendants rights worryingly/negatively impacted by media

I'm not a natively English speaking person... hence could you folks pls clarify, does above mean the accused Burmese guys will get lawyers that can be trusted?

there's some more interesting tweets from Hugo Swire, Minister of State UKFO and Andy Hall on twitter for those who wish to follow...

The PM said the case was a done deal. Guilty. Great investigation.

The two lads may be guilty anyway, but they deserve a fair trail and investigation, like anyone else. When the Police Chief makes comments like ''No Thai could commit a crime like this'', you know that the xenophobia in Thailand is getting even worse. Obviously, it's perfectly ok to round up hundreds of Burmese migrants at the drop of a hat.

Already, at that point, the investigation was compromised. Add to that the lack of DNA testing on Thais (despite this being, ermmm...Thailand) then you're becoming a laughing stock.

The courts asking for more info seems a sham to me. Can you really see any government official making a stand against the General? If he really has made a stand, then his days at the feeding trough are about to end. Maybe I'm being overly sceptical, but I feel this is a ploy to look as though they are investigating it thoroughly and without interference from the General (who possibly realises his error in sounding off about the case...on two occasions now)

Remember, the General (the head honcho one) said the case is solved and congrats the police. Incredible! Now, it's looking iffy, but it won't change the outcome.

If the two accused were to be set free, it would mean a massive loss of face for the General.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

This is interesting: From CSI LA on Facebook:

Dear British and Scottish Friends,

Please contact David & Hannah's parents. According to Thai laws, the victims or parents of victims can ask the Thai court for an independent investigation.

Please ask them to email [email protected]

They could ask but lets be honest if they want a a real independent Investigation they would be foolish to expect to get it from Thailand.

all it would do is put the ball firmly back in Thailands dubious police forces hands

im surprised it was even suggested by csi

just missed it but awaiting a rerun so can listen.

Appalled Ch3 decision to release this interview with alleged Rohingya Koh Tao case translator. Dangerous, unethical, ethnically insensitive.

Apparently the police were there monitoring the interview.....just bizarre!

Shades of North Korea about the whole thing now sadly.

So they are interviewing this guy who helped with the torcher of the two guys, with the police in the studio.

Another own goal ?

Tomorrow they want the interview the Burmese in jail. Wonder what they will say if there is no independent lawyer with them ?

That's a tough one to call, but I would guess something like ... 'yes we did it' So ad the T.V. shows to the dossier and send it back.

Then wait for it to head back in the other direction.. No one is being fooled.

ahh OK thats not at all surprising,

They do like to have a presence as a reminder, as much to remind any interviewer not to get carried away in questions as well as the interviewee from saying more than agreed.

And bananaman would 100% have been briefed by RTP before any interview.

Not so much bizarre as highly unethical and even manipulative. in other words agreed to and possibly arranged by the RTP.

Just as youd expect from them .

The interview with the suspects at the jail tomorrow surely cannot happen.

I can't think of anything more prejudicial....but that the interpreter can be allowed and encouraged to do this......its just sick.

interview with the suspects might still happen but I would also expect the RTP to insist on being present during any interview.

I wouldnt expect any lawyer client confidentiality and privacy if the RTP can somehow avoid it.

it is sick and a circus I agree but TIT..

Sean Mcanna has actually replied to some people on soundcloud saying:

Sean Hayes McAnna says at 0:01:

To everyone commenting. I never said I knew the killers. I said that if I died that night it was the guy from in touch who "did it". anybody with half a brain knows it would always be blamed on Burmese. I'm gutted for everyone involved, but there's really nothing I can do. I'm sorry the newspapers lied to you. Believe me, they lied about a lot of things. They just like a story.

We all want to know why the guy from intouch was threatening him?

What was Sean saying and who was he accusing to rouse the anger of these Intouch people?

"believe me, they lied about alot of things"

like What exactly Sean? Please clarify, for heaven's sake.......

Some questions...

1) Why is banana pancake man wearing a golf tee with RTP insignia? Was he recently "deputized" and now legally in the employ of the RTP?

2) Prior to being the first foreign national to graduate from the RTP academy and receiving his badge (in record time I might add), was banana pancake man working and living legally on Koh Tao? If not, it makes Question #1 even more relevant.

That's a Tourist Police Tshirt...

Still haven't had anyone confirm whether Mons brother is the cop standing next to him in the crime scene shots,

Or whether the guy who he chased Sean with was actually a cop as suggested...

Sean has released a song on the CSI LA page, he knows more about this than he has let out,

hopefully he has a conscience and tells what he knows, there are plenty of rumours about him and Mon Sot being in cahoots with previous date raping and plenty of suggestions Sean was selling drugs for AC bar...

Think this thread titile is finally the one that will stay in the light, there seems to have been a different thread everyday...more deflection...

Yep, mr. pancake explained how one attacked and raped Hannah while the other attacked David with a wine bottle. Any follow up question like where did the bottle or hoe come from, or where the bottle went afterwards, were brushed away by rotiman telling the suspects were drunk and they didn't remember. Interesting to see that nutellaguy was checking with RTP present at the interview if he was saying the right things.
