90% of the boys at my school are soooooo lazy! Buffalos!

90% of the girls and decent students.

Guess what happens when they grow up....

How about the lady boy students?

They are the biggest @r5eh0le5 of the lot.

Probably have the biggest @r5eh0le5 as well. cheesy.gif cheesy.gif

My lady boy students were always the my best students. Of course I only taught for 5 years in 20 or so schools so I don't know about everywhere. Do you have a lot of teaching experience in Thailand?

....was it around 30-40 percent of children being raised without their parents....

...to go a step further................ delve deeper into the dysfunctional society that seems to produce around .......50% 'other sexual preference' offspring...

...so please....bleeding heart...put things into perspective......according to statistics......it is NOT as romantic as all that.....

I have no problems with what people do with their lives.

i have no problems with bar girls being bar girls,

I have no problem with the men using their services,

but dont for a second expect me to give them sympathy or respect for what they do,

everyone makes their own decisions in life (well for the most part), some go down the bar girl route, some go down the office job route

What you a describing happens over most of the world amongst the poor/illiterate peasant populations, you see it all over africa/south america/asia, women doing the daily grind while the men drink/gamble/sleep., and most of these women would not hesitate, to sell themselves for sex, why do you think these hard working women head to the bars of Pattaya. No decent Thai women would be there, let alone set up house with a foreign bar bum/ Don't delude yourself, it's for the money.(not that they will say that).

Some just like sex, or that's what she told me for an extra 100 baht...

Agree and it's the same in Vietnam.....

But not in Cambodia. I'm in Phnom.Penh now and I see hardworking men and women at the market stalls and in any shop. They work together, most of them are relatives . Young boys or old women, they all seem to work hard together, unlike what I see in Thailand.

dude you kinda sound like a perv for school boys

Lady boys in Thailand are identified as such at an early age and it was my experience teaching that they were my best students and more than willing to help with classroom management. They seemed to have an innate ability to be great English speakers and always in a good humor.

You sound like you have little knowledge of Thailand or Thai education and instead feel at home insulting people you don't know.

BTW "Dude", is an awesomely outdated expression not even used in Thailand anymore.

Well I'm in Thailand. I go to a delat not ( market) at least three times a week and see all the couples and singles and mom and pop and mom and daughter teams cooking food the same as they have been doing for the ten years I have lived here. I had a gf whose brother sold those fish balls in downtown Bangkok every day at lunch. He made 70,000 per month. He worked his butt off. I know I helped him one day.

I was at the Conrad last week and looked at the Thai food stalls in front on Wireless road and they were jammed at lunch and the Thai people working very hard to keep up with the volume of business.

Just visit any university..at least 80% of the students and teachers are women......

They are good at rote learning..

I doubt they will ever make any groundbreaking inventions...

Professor Porn-anongAramwit, of Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science won a silver medal for creating socks that can remove dead cells from the feet of diabetics. Her invention will save people from the pain of undergoing dead-cell removal at hospitals. Diabetics will only need to wear them for two hours and the dead cells will fall off within two weeks, and the person would not need to repeat the process for another three months.

Dr. Suwadee Kongparakul of Thammasat University's Faculty of Science and Technology won a gold medal for an invention that could prove extremely valuable in helping to clean up a man-made disaster – reusable oil-absorbing rubber sheets that remove oil spills or chemicals leaked into water.

I'd say around 80% of the indigenous Thais have work ethic issues...(lack of), and that's males and females included. The women might have a few points in their favor... say if 5 on a scale of 10 is generally lazy, with most men scoring about a 5 and women a 5.5... mostly because of a stronger instinctual drive not to let their children starve. It's kind of like Mexico. It's a wonderful place to be if you're not lazy though. It's like being able to go back in time and play little league baseball as an adult.

You're attempts to stereotype all Thai people only make you come off as an uneducated dolt. Thais are people, like anyone else, no more or no less. Some work hard some don't. There is no evidence that any national stereotypes are true.

There are many stereotypes surrounding individual nations. X's stereotype for Y may be different from Z's. The stereotypes may have kernels of truth to them, but they are not wholly correct, and so are heavily misleading. In some cases, negative stereotypes have been spread by one country in order to discredit another. Sometimes countries may promote national stereotypes about themselves in order to instill a sense of patriotism, for examples in wars when an us-vs.-them mentality is often favoured.

Brilliant post, heres a tip Kerry, know your poster, Heng is THAI.

His observations aint so far from the truth.

Based on your extensive experience in the land of the Thai, can you please explain why the, Muslims, Chinese or Southern Thai dont suffer from the same malaise, why is it restricted to a certain area of Thailand, big clue, NE, is it because they aint actually Thai by birth but more by land claim.

Thesis, do Cambodian men suffer the same malaise?

Any stereotypes from any country positive or negative are of no value to anyone who has any scientific background. They don't hold up to any kind of scientific method for investigating phenomena,

In other words they are old wives tales regardless of the nationality of the person who holds the beliefs.

There is no Chinese national trait. There is no Muslim trait. There is not anglo saxon trait. There is no Nordic trait. None..... Cross a Chinese person with a Thai person and you get a person. Nothing else.

All humans are 99.9 per cent identical. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/1416706/DNA-survey-finds-all-humans-are-99.9pc-the-same.html

Still living in Ban Chang are we, reason for asking is so I know where to send the shovel to, so you can dig yourself out the ditch you have put yourself in, by calling a respected poster "an uneducated dolt"

Egg on face, mulitple wais and kor tawts wouldnt go amiss, mai pen rai, mai tong g®aeng jai.

Please tell me why I came half way across the world and found many Thais with the same beliefs and thought process as I have have, my mrs is one.

My Chinese/Thai, Southern, and Muslim friends all have the same thoughts, you may know it as, "the protestant work ethic"

See the land of the free for the exact same problem, Ferguson, Sth Detroit (read Issan is in tatters) while the rest of the country prospers.

In other words they are old wives tales regardless of the nationality of the person who holds the beliefs.

You are more than welcome to come up to Bkk and see just how wrong you are.

Thai friends of mine have sent upcountry hillbillies back to ban nork for not holding a work ethic, you come to Bkk to work, not sit on yer ass.

Even better are the girls from Issan who empower themselves and realise there is more to life than marrying some lazy up country shit kicker, they get out the village and their stock rises, their worthless family members are sent packing.

Watched one night as a bunch of Bkk (Issan) girls knocked shyt out some upcountry Pikey who thought his upcountry ways would be acceptable in Bkk, wrong Somchai.

DNA similarities now prove that cultural differences do not exist?

Every snowflake is different and individual, so we should not generalize about snow, right? Everyone has a right to their opinions on a subject as long as it is based on an individuals experience and/or observations, not on learned stereotypes. Of course it is not objective, everyone's experience is subjective by definition, but if after meeting thousands of people from one country it would be amazing if you didn't start to see some national character or behavior typical to that nationality.

As far as Thais are concerned, I tend to see Thai men [generally] as lazier than the women, but I also see huge regional differences. As for the general level of laziness, I rank Thailand somewhere around Somalia. You are welcome to bring your stereotypes into the conversation if you haven't actually been to Somalia. I have.

Admit? All Thai men? Again, in my opinion/view/experience Thai men seem to be lazier than women in Thailand. Regardless of the region. Generally. It's just that in some areas quite a high proportion of men seem to be of a totally 'unemployable' type, whereas other places you do meet some with some kind of "work ethics". Hope this helps... wai2.gif

"propensity for thai bashing"? (It is Thai, not 'thai', BTW. Do not belittle Thais, please.) Please refresh my memory about my "thai bashing" posts.

The funny thing is that you fail to see I didn't even call Thai people lazy (unless you consider Somalis lazy, then you just might think I called Thais lazy...), I only made a comparison between Thai men and women. Generally. That's not "thai bashing". Maybe Thai male bashing, if that.

Anyway, to me your replies are entertainment in an otherwise boring African night. Cheers.
