Giant firecracker bomb found near NACC office

BANGKOK: -- A giant firecracker bomb was found laid near the head-office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) but was quickly removed by Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police.

Nonthaburi provincial police said they were alerted of the finding of the bomb yesterday at a tree near a foodstall which is in front of the NACC head-office by passerby.

EOD police were immediately called in and removed the bomb safely.

Police suspected the bomb was laid to show some symbolic movement.

The NACC is scheduled to have a meeting today to pass a resolution on its earlier approval in April to impeach 39 former senators who illegitimately voted in three readings to pass a constitutional amendment that will change the composition of the Senate.

The NACC accused these former senators of malfeasance in office.

However its impeachment process was stalled after the military coup in May.

The meeting today is expected to reconfirm its impeachment proposal to the National Legislative Assembly to begin impeachment and removed them from senatorship.

The photo is blurred and I can't determine if they are actually handling this "Giant" bomb.

If they are....... it's not a Giant.

Wonder if it could have been dropped by a kid from the other day when we had all the firecrackers on, and spare all these conspiracy theories about the NACC and the symbolic movements.

The reference is not to a giant bomb in "normal" bomb terms (whatever that would be), you misquoted the report there. "Giant" is a reference to a bomb in firecracker terms, ie firecrackers are small and the package that has the officers attention would clearly be able to hold a lot of them.

I love meetings - they are "da bomb"

Maybe somebody was expecting a cracker of a meeting!

Impeaching could lead to an explosive situation.

Sorry, long day at work.
