ATF
Anyway Creepy Carl welcome to Thai Visa. I must say this is one of the most intriguing opening gambits I've seen. Are you ex-CIA, FBI, MI5/6 or Navy Seal or SAS? I'm CI5. Remember that? I used to watch it on Saturday night but it was a bit of a load of crap really. And there was that movie too, but it wasn't much good. Saw a good movie yesterday called Donnie Darko. You can read about it on IMDB. It gets good reviews. I iked it and might watch it again. CI5 was a thinly veiled reference to MI5 and the series was The Professionals which had many incarnations going back to the '70s. So is that why you are creepy, Carl? Are you possessed by an evil rabbit like Donnie Darko. Reminds me of that film I think with James Stewart and the invisible rabbit. What does the evil spirit tell you to do? snottgoblin
You've got to spend some SERIOUS time on the forum to make upwards of 25 posts a day. Most of those - except, obviously, the staff - will tell you that they live fabulously interesting and varied lives with blissfully happy marriages, supremely-talented children and magnificent incomes but those posting rates suggest more than a few people are complete and utter dreamers. 570+ posts isn’t too bad for someone without a formal education. Says the jackass turning his scratch knocking out videos of blokes taking it in the tradesman's entrance. His thoughts on reporting kiddie porn are quite interesting too . . .

Retired people have a lot of spare time, and you can only spend so much of it productively. The amount of money I have doesn't really relate much to how I use my time. A $500 bottle of wine and a 10c mug of tea occupy the same amount of my time. Get up at 7am then, 3-4 hours cycling, hiking or running, and that's pretty much it for the day outside (before the sun is too hot). An hour for coffee, another for lunch, cinema for 2 hours (Dracula Untold today). Rest of the day sitting around, listening to music, reading a book, bit of cooking, then the kids are back from school. Hour watching Scooby Doo with the little one, then he fell asleep for 2 hours. Not much required from me, one is too young, the other is pretty independent, like most teens. Don't have a wife, do have a gf but not interested in spending much time with her. So what do you do that's so special and all consuming? Edited October 16, 2014 by AnotherOneAmerican
ATF
Agreeing with someone's point of view on a particular subject doesn't equate to a friendship. Well you obviously don't agree with his sexual preferences and you told everyone you weren't in the porn biz and I do believe you. Therefore wouldn't someone's point of view become null and void once you find their peccadilloes are unacceptable to your personal morals.

So what do you do that's so special and all consuming? Well I'm not retired and, hopefully, never WILL be. I wake up at 1.30pm, I read business news and articles, check my stock portfolio when London opens. By 6pm, I'm ready for a meal By 7.30pm, I'm on Skype to family, friends and ex-colleagues chained to their white collar cubicles back in London. 9pm down at the gym lifting and cardio; 11pm dinner and some TV shows from my extensive library Occasionally, I'll invite the bird over to watch a movie if I've downloaded anything decent that I can find Thai subs for. When bars and clubs opened until 6am, a couple times a week, I'd mosey on up to soi 11 or Thonglor for a vodka-soda or two and be home for 5am. Gayllips
Hey all you haters, leave my friend Cypress Hill alone, it is not fair that you should all pick on him. Cypress Hill, I think that the confusion between me and jspill is that we live in the same grindhouse and have the same occupation and hobbies. I suppose the old pensioners on here are jealous that we are all very highly paid and educated members of society at such a young age. Their ‘clique’ will never understand how we are much better than them because they spend all of their days amassing posts on Thai Visa without spending enough time doing their cardio at the gym and attending the gay bars in Thonglor. Never mind that is their loss.

It's nothing special at all - a LOT of foreigners in Southeast Asia live more or less the same way it might sound idyllic to a prole who's spent his working life struggling under the yoke of hard, manual labour, but it ain't easy and requires a shed load of discipline. How often, for example, do YOU get yourself to the gym? I go 5 times a week Would YOU have the discipline to stay home and focus on the tedium of investing when you've either got a girl you met the week before BEGGING you to let her come over or your mates are trying to talk you into coming to a pool party at the Sofitel? Maybe you just prefer to think of anyone who isn't here on a retirement or marriage visa MUST be scratching around eking out an existence on 30 large teaching English, living in a fan room in Bang Na and eating boil in the bag noodles?
