Kitsune
My friend sometimes help people with their computer.repairs The last couple of time, he had to fix a monk's laptop and it was full of viruses from porn sites. The first time he went to the monk's private room and could fix the problem easily. He told me about it and I told my friend to report him,but he said it could have been a computer newly given/acquired secondhand. This time, same monk, same computer but the repair was more complicated and he had to take the computer home to repair it. So he had a good look at his machine and realized it was full of viruses from underage pornography websites, loads of it. He says this monk spend his days watching young 14/15 years old girls porn. Please help me as I am running out of arguments to convince him he has to report him : -I said he should report him, because it's obviously his computer and he has a private room, so it cannot be anyone else. -He said that as a computer engineer, he knows that the vast majority of computers are used for sex and he does not expect monks to be different, and probably most of the other monks are doing "it" (porn on computer) anyway. - I said that INDEED monks should be different and not indulge in pornography, that's why there are monks . They are above us morally. - He said he will only gain trouble (retaliation may be? the guy/the monk also possess a gun, a real one, the saw it in his room last time) and nothing else. - I told him all the more! This guy is obviously dangerous ! I reminded my friend he has a young daughter, and he does not want her to grow in a place where a dangerous pedophile monk lives nearby ! Gayllips
I work on computers full time (live and breathe the computer lifestyle) so I see a lot of dodgy stuff on clients computers than most people. Whether to report him or not, that would be dependant on the confidentiality agreements that you would have with your clients. I run quite a few gay porn websites (from outside of Thailand) and would be very upset if people started telling everyone about my business but kiddie stuff is a different matter, so difficult call. Is your friend a Thai or Farang?

Popular Post David48
So, your 'Farang' friend has decided not to report it. Should it be left at that? Have you seen the 'evidence'? If not ... aren't you relying the 'hearsay' of another? What would I do? If I was convinced that the monk was indeed viewing inappropriate material, I would inform the Head Monk and let him deal with it. Let the Thais deal with their own ... they don't need/want us interfering. .

Kitsune
How do you know they are underage? Unfortunately there are thousands of "teen porn" sites where girls are made to look young but are actually 18+. Well that's what he says, I will ask him. Good question. But that still does not tell me what to tell him/ what to do. Also regardless if they are actually 18 or not, if the website claim they are under 18,is that not legally wrong to watch anyway? Now I'm confused. If your 'friend' has seen the images ... that's understandable as that media would be stored on the computers Hard Drive. But, unless you visited the actual website ... you wouldn't know what the website said. Kitsune ... have you visited these websites? Or are you relying on your friends' confirmation, implying that he has visited them (for research purposes of course)

Kitsune
My apologies Apparently it is NOT illegal yet to watch under 18 porn in this country Police must consider what the intentions behind the behaviour are. For example, the word "possession" should not refer to ordinary porn but should clearly mean pornography of children aged under 18, and photos kept not for personal sexual pleasure but to victimise children. "It is just such an act that will be considered as wrongdoing," said Pol Gen Chatchawan, also director of the centre for children and women protection and anti-human trafficking under the Royal Thai Police. That leaves us with just the moral / buddhism stand Edited October 15, 2014 by Kitsune

Just replace all the child porn with old grandma porn and say - it must have been the virus
