Hello all,

I had my 30 day visa extension done a few weeks ago and I'm a day short... my visa expiry was on Saturday Sept. 27. But since immigration offices are closed on weekends, I had to go early to immigration on Friday, Sept 26 to get the extension.

My question is:
Shouldn't the extension have started on Sept. 28th after my visa expired- not on the day I got the extension? I thought you can go to immigration days early, and still use up the visa until expiry before the extension starts. I sure can use an extra day.

Thanks

Your extension started 28/9 and ends 27/10.

Each extra day is 500 Bt overstay fine or you can get a last 7 days extensions for Bt 1,900.

The extension stamp does not show the date when the extension starts. It shows two dates:

  1. date when extension was issued, ie stamped in your passport
  2. new expiration date of your permission to stay

When I counted 30 days from Sept 28th, I should arrive at 27th. But the stamp from immigration says 26/10 is my last day. Should I go back and have it corrected?

To other comments: My visa expiration was Saturday Sept. 27th. I went to immigration on Friday Sept. 26th. And my stamp says I have til Oct. 26th. I think I should have until 27/10 like paz says.

If you need the last day you should go back and have it corrected.

The expiration date, ie "enter before" date, of your visa is immaterial.
