Another game we should have won...a familiar theme this season. So wasteful. KdB has to stop hitting the woodwork. Nice to be the dominate team but a win away at Arsenal is rare.

Yeah, it feels like we dropped 2 points there.

Yep, 2 points dropped again unnecessarily. We've really let some teams of the hook this season. First half, when we felt like it we were good and I thought Pep was right to bring on Yaya as there were periods when we kept giving it away. 2nd half better. I'll say it again for the umpteenth time this season: we can't defend. We're like half an excellent team front end and a poor back line...only Stones performed and what's with Navas at fullback. ..come on Pep that was ridiculous.

With our front 6 I'm very optimistic already for next season IF we can rebuild that poor defence.

I dunno BB. Navas kept Sanchez pretty quiet, I thought. Not sure who else we have who could have done that

He had a shocking start but he did improve as the game wore on. He can't tackle but showed that pace can get you out of trouble - unless you're Bellerin against the faster Sane ;-)

Navas actually put in a few decent crosses 2nd half and the one on to Aguero's head was KdB-esque!

in fairness Navas looked no worse than Clichy...umm!

22 players destined for obscurity; plus subs of course. I think Dominik Solanke is the only one from the last 2 finals to have actually played in an EPL game but Chelsea look like they will be selling him in the summer.

^Cynical view.

Fewer players have come through in recent years but this article of winnners have made it to the top-flight in the last 20 years shows plenty have made it from youth football / youth finals:

Apologies to those in Thailand who can't open the Mail.

City have hit the woodwork the most this season with 17 times.

KDB has now hit the woodwork an amazing EIGHT times. That is three more than the next players on the list.

The general idea is to place the ball within the posts.   If the suggestion is that City have been plain unlucky this season then you'd best look at the defensive frailties where lies the real issue.

KDB should be in for extra shooting practice then.

Fact based view and not a cynical one. 3 consecutive finals between the 2 clubs is proof that they are hoovering up the cream of the crop by paying top dollar to teenagers. No progression to the respective first elevens is sad and dispiriting.

You do realise it's the youth team Champers and over 3 years not many (if any) would be expected to break into the first team at this point in their progression. Our new academy is still quite young and it takes time to bring local young kids through the system but our owners are serious about bringing youth through, which is why they have invested so much.

Rubbish, you've had an academy for donkey 's year's, ok you've upgraded the complex but so have many other teams but you don't hear them using that as an excuse for not bringing any youngster's through.

Current International Youth Academy Director Jim Cassell joined from Oldham Athletic in July 1997 and was responsible for building Manchester City's youth structure, which gained Academy accreditation in 1998.

Your academy complex and so called plans to bring in the elite  was bought into action in approx 2010 and still not a carrot  7 years on, anyway i'm sure we'll be having this conversation in another 7 years time

You started off your previous post by saying we upgraded the complex. The plans got put forward a couple of years after our new owners took over and the Platt Lane End facility got an upgrade whilst the new campus was being built. This wasn't merely an upgrade, it was a complete re-build, a new philosophy, a new strategy, more investment and the new Etihad Campus opened in December 2014. All of this, to me suggests you haven't been following (and why should you) what has been happening at our academy. There is just no comparison to what we had before.

The main success about the academy is the total change of attitude about Man City from the kids. Years ago, all the kids wanted to go to the United academy and why shouldn't they, they were winning everything. However, things have changed, United aren't winning as much, our training facilities and schooling are better than Uniteds and young kids are choosing City's academy over United. Even Ex-united players are sending their kids to City.

You can't rush 5 and 6 year old kids through the academy, this will all take time for the crop who started at the new academy to pop out at the other end and the one's who are starting to pop out are doing well. I'm quite patient about it, our owners are patient and have shown how serious they are by investing huge sums, so I don't know why you are so impatient to want results now.

Revolutionizing  !!!!!  they are not doing anything different to any other football academy .

Basing success on being better than Utd's academy :cheesy::cheesy:

Cracking game. As a City fan didn't feel we deserved to lose but maybe blue tinted glasses. Good to see Vinny back, decent. Delphy also did ok on a rare outing. Chelsea roughed up Silva who eventually fizzled out. Hope chelsea go on and finish it off; they are worthy champions (in waiting).

No BB, the worthy champions are the team that finishes with the most points at the end of the season, despite your bias, so stop being a chump and wait and see.

How on earth did Stones hoof that over the bar?
