What? I would like to know what good Restaurants and what are the good things to see in Buriram, as I've never been......I think you have taken my question the wrong way. I have seen similar posts on this site, but if not no worries, I will leave. I'm an old man looking for information, not what you are obviously thinking!!!

What nightlife are you looking for ?

For any sort of nightlife Buriram would not be my first choice of destination.

You may need to give more of a clue as to your tastes and preferences...e .g. there is a football match this Sunday and again on 2nd November - if you don't like soccer then my comments are wasted.

There are decent gatherings of Farangs at Paddys bar, Jimmy's Sports cafe, Roma pizza, Bamboo Bar, Muang Pizza ... if you are not interested in mixing with Farangs then that information is pointless.

That's great Jip99 both are great and I wanted to take in a game but back to Kalasin on Saturday, the bars sound great. What about during the daytime?

Nice......try not to judge everyone by your own obvious dirty thoughts and as a matter of interest to you my wife of 33 years very happy marriage will be joining me on my travel.....that is from us both teaching in very poor schools in Kalasin, where we do this for free.....now please take your head from up your arse and butt out.

From memory there's an area of nightclubs etc in Burriram which seemed quite decent (Although I went to bed early, around maybe 12 or 1, so didn't really see them, but it sounded like my mates had fun).

Also if you're looking for things to do during the day, then check out the Khmer Ruins there (Panom Rung or something I think), they're about 60km or 90km from Burriram, I can't remember, but they're the best Khmer ruins in Thailand, so well worth a look.

Edit: @OP - Please try to not jump to conclusions :) They moved your post to the Isaan section because it's more relevant, but also you're more likely to get a considered reply, rather than jokes about the "night-life" (Which admittedly, can be a dynamite phrase, even in this section lol), as most Farang in Isaan are either married, teachers, or both.

Please accept my apologies for yes jumping to conclusions...this is the first time I have used this for information and to get two posts as such, were a little annoying. I should know better in Thailand than to get annoyed. Also I only read part of the email explaining the move to a different page as I was reading from my mobile. So double apologies.

Please however tell that arse who responded, that we are not all like him.

I think we are missing a post somewhere..................................... maybe a response got deleted.

The major attraction in Buriram is Prasat Hin Panom Rung historical park. It was built by the Khmers and is 70 km south westish of Buriram itself:-

If interested in the history Prasat Hin Muang Tam is 4km from Panom Rung:-

On the edge of Buriram you have Khao Kradong

The football stadium is worth a look and they do guided tours - the new Chang International Circuit is also next door:-

Staying at the Amari puts you on the spot. Plenty of other accommodation though.

Welcome Steve.

Buriram is like most other largish Thai cities, western food, Thai food, quiet bars, loud bars, plenty of people to talk to if you want and lots of quiet corners if you don't.

As SA and Jip suggested, a trip to Khao hanom Rung during the day is a must for most people.

There was a deleted post Happylarry and it certainly wasn't about you no. When I responded to yours it was not meant as an insult, merely a little sarcasm, again apologies. I received a post from another member, suggested that I was coming up for the sex trade.....I really don't think my wife would be too happy about that

No problem Steve, most of the people you will meet here are nice and helpful enough, you'll be able to sus out the wrong 'uns quite quickly.

Jip posted a list of bars earlier, I'm only really familiar with one of them (the Bamboo Bar) and I haven't been in there for quite a while, but there will usually be a couple of westerners who you can plug for info and they are normally more than happy to divulge their knowledge of the area. Which is much easier to do over a coffee than an internet forum.

A couple of things about Phanom Rung if you do decide to go there, I think the ancient Khmers that built it must have had 40 inch inside legs but size 3 feet, making some of the steps quite precarious.

Plus, it is built from sandstone and a rock called laterite, it is quite easy to injure yourself on this stuff, like rubbing your hands on a cheese grater.

I don't know what your standard attire during the day is, but I would seriously recommend long trousers, and unless you are as sure footed as a mountain goat, a good pair of training shoes.

I have both Thaddeus, thanks again and yes it's the same as all forums I'm afraid....I just wonder what I must have done to that guy in a previous life to deserve that kind of tirade.....my wife laughed her socks off by the way and said I'm too old to do anything anyway

Thad, it took me 5 years to realise that there is a 'cheats' entrance at thesame level as the prasat. Car park 3 means you can park within 100m of the building, wander to the top of the steps (which are FAR more even than Khao Preah Wihan) to takr some photos and, when finished, get in the car and head for car park1 and the gift shops.
