I'm not a big fan of the food either. But hear avocados are cheap as chips! I do miss a good guacamole....

Agreed on the food, although I did find a few Western style places that were not bad. If they have good guacamole, I wish that I had known. That is something that I really miss here. The reasonably prices avocados we get in Chiang Mai are almost tasteless. Mexican places add mayo to give them some.

Spent extensive time in both.....Thailand by a country mile....check the thread about some guy pondering taking his family to PI....it covers a lot...and it's worse than indicated there.....

Spent alot of time in Subic when the US still had a base there. Olongopo was a wild city back then,

Pearl of the Orient it was called. But today I would never consider making it my home. Never. Thailand feels much better.
