Sukhumvit Rd to Bang Khwang Prison - Time to allow?

Featured Replies

As the title says, I will be staying on Soi 15 Suk Rd. and will be going to Bang Khwang prison. I don't want to take the easy way (taxi) so going to take BTS from Asoke to Sathorn (sp?) Pier and then take the river ferry up to Nonthaburi, then a short walk to the prison.

I know this isin't the easiest way to get there but I will see the most. I've been on the river in BKK before and loved it!

My question is:

How long should I allow for this? I need to be at the prison at 9:30am

How do I know what boat to get on at Sathorn pier? May seem a stupid question but last time I was at the pier there were loads of boats.

Thanks folks

youre taking the dumb farang way-that boat runs ev 20 mins and takes-according to publications 75-80 mins for the full trip. Flags denounce which stops they make, most common is orange.

Take BTS to Mochit-then bus63, OR, @ Aree the 97-both end Nonthburi.

Even quicker: catch the 97 (but have to read Thai!!as both ends stop there) @ Bang Sue MRT. Takes about 20 mins from there and runs very often till 9.00, MRT at Asoke/Sukhumvit

The answer: Sukhumvit to Bangkwang - 1 1/2 to two hours

Bangkwang to Sukhumvit - anything up to 30 years.

Thanks guys. Personally I wanted to go via river as I love the water and being around it! I'll see how I am that morning... if I get up early i'll take the river, otherwise i'll BTS to MoChit and then bus.

Also, thanks for the Google Transit link
