90 Day Report and New Extension

Featured Replies

I arrived in Phuket on 5 August with a retirement extension that expired soon after my arrival.

Got a new extension on 19 August.

Question: Do I do the 90 day report 90 days from my arrival on 5 August or 90 days from the date I received my new retirement extension?

Thanks for answers

Your report is due 90 days from when you arrived on the 5th of August. Only the first extension counts as a 90 report,

More duplication.

You've already reported your address with your extension - some offices require now that you prove it and also the building owner to as well.

Also 4 x 90 days does not equal a year - so you have to do an extra report each year or renew before the 5th report is due.

My next one is now due (accumulation) before I can do the next extension Nov. 22 v. Dec 28

But hey - who expects logic?

It's their ballgame - we have to play by their rules (with as many interpretations as there is umpires 555!)

Not duplication because the reports are for staying in the country longer than 90 days not solely for reporting your address.

You can keep the reports in sync within the early reporting allowance with your extension by doing them on the report date. I have even done them a day or two late to help keep them in sync.

It actually depends on the office that you use. I use Nakhon Sawan. I do my reports by mail and the last report date is always on the date that my extension is due. I last reported on 2 September and my next report date is 6 November, the same day that my current extension to stay expires, only 66 days. They've done it this way for the past 6 extensions so some offices actually do have their head and a** wired together.

I also called and asked them if they still do residence certificates as I need one for my DL renewal and asked if I could do it the same time as my extension. The officer told me yes, but that I should bring a self addressed envelope with me as the "big Boss" had to sign it and he might not be there so they would mail it to me if he isn't!

My office also changes the report date to the permit to stay date for my extension if it the next report date is beyond it. Doing that this year caused me to choose the date I went in for my extension to 14 days early to fit within the 15 day report allowance.

I do my extensions based upon marriage. Last year and now this year they did a 90 day report for me when I went in to get my extension stamp after the under consideration period. So that made my reports 45 days, 44 days and now 90 days when the next one is due.

At least now in Phuket/Patong you can hand over just your passport (or have someone do it for you) for your 90 day report and the computer, which has your stored details, spits out the slip for your next report.

It was interesting that the big boss in Chiang Mai said don't report in person - we are overloaded.

So does this mean that Chiang Mai are now accepting mailed-in reports again?

Chiang Maians would doubtless find some link to their Big Boss's utterances on this point useful!

Your report is due 90 days from when you arrived on the 5th of August. Only the first extension counts as a 90 report,

Thanks for the answer, which is what I would have thought.

The confusing thing is that when I got the new extension, the computer printed a slip that said I had to do my 90 day report by 16 November, which is Saturday.

What to do? I understand that there is a limit on how many days in advance a person can do the 90 day report. If the 16th is the correct date, would reporting 90 days from my actual arrival on the 5th be too early? Maybe I should just pay attention to the slip that immigration gave me when I received the new extension and report on the 14th to avoid Friday and Saturday? I use the Phuket Town office.

Your thoughts, please.

As often mentioned. You can report up to two weeks before and one week after the due date.

Since they gave you a new report date you will do it then. You can report on the 17th without a problem.

whistling.gif If you are here for more than a couple of years, and you choose to go back to your home country .... maybe once or twice a year to visit relatives and do so financial stuff ..... your 90 day reporting and your extension dates will soon get out of sync.

That's because you do not have to do 90 day reporting when you are out of Thailand, and your 90 reporting schedule starts again when you do return to Thailand.

This shouldn't be a big problem, just get the re-entry permit before you leave, use it to re-enter , and do your next 90 day reporting 90 days after your entry stamp.

Your 90 day reporting dates and your extension renewal dates are two separate things.

Just be aware of the dates for each of them and the requirements for them.

Not "rocket science".

Unfortunately, I did not see this response. I went to immigration within the 90 days from my arrival, not the date on the new slip. And you are correct; I was told to come back on the date on the slip.

In any event, thanks for your correct information.
