work permit from Singapore can work in Thailand?

Featured Replies

I'have been told that if a person has a work permit from Singapore, he can work also in Thailand ( or convert it easily to a Thai work permit without needing to set up a Thai company)

do you know if it is true?

Don't believe everything you are being told. FYI a green card from the USA doesn't give you a work permit in Thailand too.

That is false info you have heard.

Not true

If you have been issued say a P1 you will not that the card issued to you is actually a disembarkation card so a Visit Pass, permitting your stay in SIngapore, the Employment pass side states your employer, all of this authorising stay and work in Singapore.

The leap to allowing work in Thailand is nebulous at best. However if you are required to go do some work in Thailand for your Singapore company at the office of another company or an associated entity you can easily obtain a Non Immigration B visa.

This will cover your work in Thailand as long as you are retaining your employment and salary flows as normal as if you were in singapore and not coming via Thailand.

A Non Immigration B visa allows you to stay in the country and not more than that. This will not cover work in Thailand. You will still need a Thai work permit if working in Thailand.

I am only required to obtain a B visa for all companies my employer needs me to deal with. Since I am not employed in Thailand, nor draw any income from Thailand I a work permit is not available nor applicable.

ohhh hangon must be what comes down from the one stop shop.

Er that is not strictly true, simply because where you draw your salary does not come into the definition of work in Thailand.

For example, if your Singapore based an periodically visit Thailand to see customers, then a Non-imm B currently suffices, however if your living full time in Thailand and working for a Singapore company and dealing with Thai customers on behalf of the Singapore company this can be interpreted as working in Thailand and a WP is required.

Further to this, there is still the rumour bouncing around that sometime in the future even if one visits customers in Thailand, a work permit (temporary) will be required which is sponsored by the Thai companies the person needs to visit, if its true, and when this is coming in, I have no idea.

For a fact there are MNC's in Thailand who will not even left a visitor in the door from overseas unless the MNC has secured a temp WP for them, so please don't infer there is none available or applicable in your case yes there is, as started there are MNC's who do this regularly with over sea's visitors and suppliers visiting them, a temp WP can be had in 24 hours, no problem, its a letter..wink.png

Currently how are you involved in the one stop ?....you don't have a Thai entity, your not BOI, your company is in Singapore, One stop's doesn't issue Non-imm B visa's, as you have stated you don't need a WP, so struggling to see what "comes down" from the one stop ?
