Motorbike taxi, price raised

Featured Replies

October 1, I noticed that the prices of motor bike taxi went up. There was a notice on the taxi stand, with info that certain sections had increased the price. But two weeks later I became charged 33% more on another stretch it was announced that the price was changed.

Can motor bike taxi just put up the price when they want, or are there regulations governing this?

There is not much to complain that the price goes up a few bath. But it seems they should inform a little better! Although a percentage increase of 30 percent is quite a lot, compared to what you read about that regular taxi should be allowed to increase their rate

Im guessing as you keep mentioning % , the increase was less than 10thb if that

Yes they can do whatever they want. Even if someone tells them differently, they will still do whatever they want.

Going from point A to point B in and around Thailand is fairly cheap no matter which service you use.I don't use them or tuk tuk's if

I can keep from it.Especially Bangkok.Just to dangerous for me.To much traffic.

So if you were paying Baht 50, a 30% increase now you're paying Baht 65. Percentages are nice for comparing things but these guys are still facing the same higher prices we all are and they have to pay for things in baht, not percentages ... it's not like they were awash in cash before or after increasing the prices and when was the last time they got any kind of raise? Besides, there is the practical issue of currency. They can't realistically raise a price by 6 baht or 13 baht or some other odd number. Making change would be problematical and a bit silly.

But it seems they should inform a little better!

Did you expect the PM to hold a press conference to announce your motorcy taxi fare was going up by 5 baht?

If it went up by 5 Baht I would pay 10 anyway.

I like the bike taxis generally.
