Booking a table at Sornthong restaurant in English

I heard a lot of good things about Sornthong and would like to reserve a table in advance. I will call them but am not sure if they speak English. I am a visitor and so I don't have Thai friends who can help. I also am NOT staying at a hotel (am staying at a vacation apartment) and so there is no concierge service to rely on.

You could call them and see for yourself and go from there.

Some unasked for advice on table bookings with Thai managed restaurants. I only have ever bothered to make reservations on weekends or holidays at popular places that I KNEW would be packed.

The first few times I did this by phone upon arrival I was told "Sorry, reservation no have sir". My theory on this is when persons of status are waiting somebody is going to lose face if a "Farang"

waltzes in to be summarily guided to a reserved table. A Falung has no status by definition, so It is just easier to tell you to wait or go away.

So here is my tactic. Make reservations by email. I used this approach at a great Italian restaurant in Chiang Mai for New Year's Eve dinner at 8PM

a couple years ago. Make the reservation well in advance.

So we show up at the resto after riding tandem halfway across town on motorbike in the worst holiday traffic imaginable.

Again, "So sorry sir, We do not seem to have your reservation". The place is packed, not very big, many waiting. We are probably not gonna get in before closing.

"Oh yes, remember the email I sent in November? Here is a printout of the booking confirmation your manager sent me".

Moments later we are whisked to our table to begin with antipasti and a decent bottle of Bubbly, a festive evening of celebratory bliss.

Sornthong at bottom of Sukhumvit soi 24? as far as i know they do not accept reservation
