Easiest and quickest way to a new EDU visa in Lao.

Featured Replies

I will be getting a new student visa for the first time in Lao. Point of departure is Mueang Conburi. I can easily drive to the airport(s). I am willing to spend extra money to fly to Lao or Ubon to make my trip as easy as possible. I do not want to sit in a bus for several hours. Nor do I want to wait long at the embassy. I will likely be flying to Hong Kong after I get my visa. Then come back to Thailand.

Please tell me the Easiest and quickest most painless way to get my student visa in Lao.

What should I watch out for? Do Loations generally speak English or Thai? Do taxis scam the same in Bangkok?

Any markets or authentic Lao restaurants in the area of the embassy you can share?

Thank you. Trolls welcome :D

The quickest way is to go get the visa in Savannakhet. Browse one or two pages of this forum to find many threads about it.

For Savannakhet Nok Air and Air Asia offer a fly/ride service to Mukdahan via Nakhon Phanom. Do to flight schedules most people fly in the evening before and stay in Mukdahan and cross over the bridge to Savannakhet the next morning and apply for the visa. You make your application by 11 am and pickup your passport a 3:30 pm.

For Vientiane Nok Air offers fly/ride via Udon Thani. You can also get a van from the airport in Udon to the bridge in Nong Kai. In Vientiane it is next afternoon service. Best to apply on Tuesday and Wednesday when it is less busy.
