I am going to Vietnam next week so will need a visa. Been looking into the" visa on arrival" and there are numerous web sites advertising their services for a fee for supplying a letter pertaining to the visa. Is this a scam? Surely it isn't necessary to have a letter, not sure what it will say as it will be in Vietnamese anyway, saying you want a visa on arrival when you land? It just brings to mind the scam web sites in the UK that guarantee to get you a E1-11 card for £10 but if you go to ukdirgov.org they issue it for free.

Any views, experience?

Have a good day.

Not a scam, you have the choice of getting one of these letters which enables to get your visa on arrival or you buy a visa from a Vietnamese Consulate before you travel.

Without one or the other you wouldn't be allowed to board the aircraft to travel.
