The bodies of two insurgents are collected from a house in Pattani

PATTANI: -- Men wanted for many attacks; 5 others also arrested in Pattani shootout

Two wanted insurgent leaders were shot dead and five others arrested in a shootout yesterday in Pattani's Nong Chik district.

One of the dead suspects was identified as Adul Rahman Jehtae, 34, who was wanted under 84 arrest warrants for numerous alleged crimes.

The other dead man was identified as Russali Baesorohmae, 33, who had 10 arrest warrants issued against him.

Police said both men were foreign-trained commando chiefs acting as the heads of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil-led cells active locally and previously in neighbouring Yala.

One of the five men arrested is Tuloh Keeyah, a former deputy head of a tambon administration organisation.

Two of the men have been released but Tuloh and another two men are in military custody undergoing questioning.

Separately, two suspected insurgents hurled a grenade from a bridge in Pattani's Muang district but it did not explode when it hit the ground because the safety pin had not been removed.

Security blockades later set up secure perimeters around 16 areas at risk of insurgent attacks.

The shootout in Nong Chik started after a large team of security forces sealed off a village to look for high-profile targets at dawn.

Muslim clerics and community leaders were brought in to negotiate surrenders during a meeting in a house.

The five arrested men surrendered while the two suspects who were killed remained inside the house and opened fire on security forces in a gunfight that lasted about two minutes.

Police said the two dead men had a hand in several gun and bomb attacks and murders in both Pattani and Yala, another area they had been active in before being forced to relocate to Pattani due to pressure from security forces.

A military spokesman said shooting the men was in line with procedures as they resisted arrest and opened fire on security forces after several hours of negotiations.

And I was thinking there would be no good news stories today.

Well, that's 2 less scumbags to cause trouble.

Gotta love the caliber of insurgents these days! ! ! ! cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Ready - fire - aim !

2 down hundreds more to go... I'd be happy to pay for the bullets that will kill more

of these <deleted> like them...

So, please tell us in which country these two sterling chaps were "foreign-trained" to become "commando chiefs acting as the heads of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil-led cells active locally and previously in neighbouring Yala."

Doing some Wikipedia research, I think it might have been Indonesia, but at an establishment run by whom, they do not say.

A nominal "feel good" action that will keep the military continuing with its same policies over the last 20 years. If Gen. Prayuth is going to deliver a peace agreement with the insurgents before the end of 2015 as he promised, what is being accomplished towards that end? The “If you've got them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow” (Theodore Roosevelt) policy is hardly a viable incentive for any lasting peace.

and they let two out on bail, thats half the problem, they catch them red handed then release them on bail and they keep blowing up and killing people. Have to wonder at the mentality of these forces if they simply let them out on bail, they need to detain and even execute anyone found to be involved or else they will simply keep doing it, time to think of all the innocents these terrorists have already killed, slapping them on the wrist is not the answer.
