Computer store with largest selection in Pattaya?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to buy an Acer Iconia W4 from somewhere in Pattaya and I'm wondering which store might have the best selection to choose from (in case I decide on a different model).

I'd prefer to buy direct from an Acer shop if there is one, but anywhere else that is trustworthy will do. Any suggestions?

If you just want to buy a tablet then the various shops in Central Festival, or indeed BigC on Sukumvit or Tesco, would be your best bet.

TukCom is worth a look, but dont expect any bargains and many things are probably fakes or otherwise dodgy.

Or perhaps go to Bangkok for the day. Easily and cheaply done via the airport bus.

Computer shops in Pattaya are very poorly stocked and quite expensive, even by Thai standards. You would probably find more choice and better prices in a provincial town of 50,000 inhabitants in Europe or the US than in this large city. Given the vast numbers of well-off farangs here with nothing much better to do than buy gadgets, I find this very surprising.

Really? Given that it could be considered a captive market, it does not surprise me.

+1 for InvadeIT

IT City 5th floor Tukcom Pattaya, they are a reputable company, but don't expect much in terms of service. There are also Banana and JJB on the 3rd floor (I think), which may have what you want, and are also reputable.

To save you time walking around and trying to find the Acer you want, JJB, Invadeit, Banana IT and Tesco Lotus can all be searched online very easily.

Power Buy on the 3rd floor of Central has a fair selection, but knowledge is often lacking.

Wattana opposite Foodland on Central Pattaya has a good selection and a service department.

A fair number of stores to check out in Central Festival also, if you happen to be there. Power Buy near Foodland is pretty good.

I was at this store a few weeks ago and found their selection to be poorer than their store in Central. Actually, I was looking for a printer and gave up and went to their store in Central. I must say I didn't find one there I liked either. I finally found one that I bought at the Cannon store. It's working great.

I've been buying from Eastern IT in Tukcom for 12 years. Great service and competitive pricing. Have referred many friends there and they are also very happy with this shop. I think it's on the 3rd floor!

Fairly good selection including several Acer models. When I bought mine, it came with a 3 year warranty. After a year, started having problems, took it to Wattana - didn't have to have sales slip, they had record on file. Problem was the hard drive, which was replaced - no cost. One caution though if buying computer from them (likewise at other stores), be sure it comes with Operating System you want installed - if you want MS, you may need to purchase it as I did when I bought my Acer.

I just referred someone who needed repairs to his Acer - he later thanked me - said it was great and very professional service. I buy most of my computer accessories there - primary reason is their reputation for honoring the warranty work. They put a "label" on the item with date purchased; so no need to hunt for the receipt if you need to take it in for warranty work.

I have purchased plenty of genuine products from TukCom over the last 5-6 years. The selection is as good as Pantip Plaza in BKK which is often said to be the best and cheapest (in my opinion). If you go to get the cheapest price you will probably buy a fake. Do your research on-line beforehand and know what you want and approx how much you will pay. Know what operating system you want and what version. A lot of companies make different versions for different markets so you may find the asian market gets a different model to Europe US or Austraila. In every product you can see what the operating system etc is in the Setup part of the menue right at the bottom (About Device) Get a price from a few places and ask about warranty and a receipt. If they baulk at this then go somewhere else if you are spending big bucks. I have saved good sums by comparing as you prices do vary. Banana IT, Powerbuy and the likes have genuine products which you pay a premium from them and I have purchased from them also. Also go early in the morning because Thais will often give you a good discount if you are their first customer of the day !
