Bank withdrawal

Featured Replies

I have my passport and to make matters worse I don't have an ATM card. However what I do have is my work permit. Is wondering if it was possible to make a withdrawal at Kasikorn using my work permit? Was wondering if anyone has any stories or experiences with this?

whistling.gif Your passport will be used for I.D., but you will need a passbook or proof of the bank account or source of the funds you want to withdraw funds from.

Otherwise you have virtually no chance of making any withdrawal.

Did you mean to say you "don't" have your passport or "passbook"? If you meant to say passbook, like you lost it/left it somewhere else, you can get it replaced at the bank with proper ID (passport)...might have to do a police report depending on the branch.

Hi Pib. No I mean I have my passbook but no ATM card or passport. Its a moot point now anyway as I called the K-Bank and they said they cannot do it without a passport. After asking me if I wanted to cancel my still active card. :-|

Yea, for a farang you need your passport as that is equivalent to a Thai I'D card. You can find some posts of some branches accepting a Thai drivers licence but those seem to be the exception and maybe knew the customer based on previous visits.

I would hate to lose my passbook, a bad guy find it and then try to withdraw money without the branch requiring proper I'D like the passport or Thai I'D to help confirm identical ion. Plus they confirm/compare your signature using the passbook under a black light.
