Jomtien Beach Road one-way plan stopped before it begins

PATTAYA:--Pattaya officials abruptly canceled plans to turn Jomtien Beach Road into a one-way street, citing possible tourist confusion during high season.

Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh announced on Nov. 13 - the day after the one-way system was supposed to begin as a one-month test project - that the new traffic plan was dropped due to the anticipated start of construction of a subterranean Central Road bypass under Sukhumvit Road.

Nearly two kilometers of Sukhumvit will be affected during the initial phase of construction, which had been expected to start this month. One lane of traffic will be closed and drivers encouraged to use alternate routes, including the railway access road, Thepprasit Road and Soi Chaiyapruek in Jomtien Beach, Ronakit said.

What has the subterranean project got to do with the new 1-way system road system in Jomtien ?

Tourist confusion during high season ? What has the season got to do with confusion ? Are tourists more confused in high season ? Confused about what ?

No mention of Thais being confused. But then again, Thais do their own thing regardless of traffic laws anyway.

So all in all, much hot air about nothing. No surprises there.

Jomtien will always be a bottle neck as long as the lights at Chaiyapruek are controlled by the police to benefit them & the sellers + the new lights at the Magistrates Court are out of synch with the above. Saturday & Sunday are no-go days.

from OP:

"Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh announced on Nov. 13 - the day after the one-way system was supposed to begin as a one-month test project - that the new traffic plan was dropped due to the anticipated start of construction of a subterranean Central Road bypass under Sukhumvit Road."

And that construction of a subterranean Central Road bypass under Sukhumvit Road has been postponed to 2015, correct?
