Advice for visa run to Cambodia or Vietnam via air

Featured Replies

I am terrible and organising things like this so was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or tips.

I have been in Thailand for around 3 years working. My visa expires in January and I have no job.

I would like to leave early January and go to Phenom Phenh or Vietnam to apply for a 2 month tourist visa and come back for 2 or 3 months.

How do I do it? Or is there a visa run service I can pay for someone to be with me every step of the way. I know there's a lot via land to penang but I would like to see Cambodia or Vietnam and I don't want to sit in a crowded, speeding minivan.

I can book a ticket to HCM or Phenom Penh easy enough but after that I am lost.

Things like how to get from airport to hotel, what hotel, where is the Thai embassy, what documents i need, will I have trouble upon re-entry.

I heard they were doing a crackdown on visa runs and I will be leaving all my possesions in my apartment in Thailand so I want to make sure it goes smoothly.

Any advice would be very welcome. Thankyou

Visit Thai visa service dot com...very reliable...several option. Lao is probably your best.

They seem to operate with minivans. I want to go via air

ok yes sorry.

Well I guess you could fly to there or to an airport near there on the Thai border. Savannaket may be you better option as it is a quieter consulate, as far as Lao goes, and I think they do same day service.

There is no crackdown on tourist visas.

I hope this helps.

You can use agents in PP to do the visa.

Vietnam is not so easy and will they want a ticket out of the country.

You can do it by air to Vientiane via Udon Thani. Nok Air has a fly ride service to Vientiane.

Savannakhet does the visa on the same day you apply. Check for flights to Mukdahan on Air Asia or Nok Air that are a fly/ride service via Nakhon Phanom.

So I thought I had it about sorted out. I found hotels and a small shop in phnom penh that can do a 60 day tourist visa for $50 (lucky lucky motorcycle).

I might have over looked one important thing though... proof of onward travel.

Is there any way to do this without it? Only because I am still not sure where I want to be in a few months or whether my money would last to my flight out or if I decide to get another job in Thailand. I can probably get the visa without the proof from what I read but even if I do they will probably still ask me at airport right?

Im not used to doing these visa runs. I find it hard to believe all of these illegal workers in places like koh tao living with regular visa runs have onward travel tickets out of thailand???

It seems a gamble. Maybe i have a better chance if i use a visa run van down to penang as much as it worries me.

I will contact some companies and see what they say about it.

I believe the visa service can assist you with the visa process even if you don't take the van to Laos.

I went once with them and 2 people flew and met at the friendship bridge and the visa service gave them a discount for not taking the van but assisted them same as everyone else.

I don't like the van either but like the service.
