BANGKOK: -- A downtown shopping mall popular with teenagers declared Wednesday that the pungent odor of a highly toxic and flammable gas has been eradicated.

More than a month after news broke of spreading sickness and frustration among shop owners over mall management’s inaction in dealing with the problem, Siam Square One Vice President Boonsong Srisawangnet declared to a group of reporters the smell of leaking hydrogen sulfide has been eradicated.

A city sanitation officer confirmed the toxic gas smell was gone. However there was no word whether the gas itself was entirely gone.

Municipal environmental sanitation officer Paitoon Ngammuk, according to the Bangkok Post, “confirmed that the hydrogen sulphide smell had gone.”

Another poorly reported article by a Thailand news agency.

So was the source and cause of the smell actually found and fixed or did it just go away and basically everyone is clueless. My vote is for the later.

I assume they improved the ventilation to dilute the smell...

What a pity future quality tourists are denied this unique shopping experience!

It just won't be the same!

smell is gone, or masked ?

oh, as long as the owner get his money, right

TIT

It smells exactly the same! I was there yesterday. As soon as you enter the indoors air-conned section of the mall, you can smell it.
