I have many accounts with Thai banks and I have internet banking with 2 Thai banks, but not all of my accounts with these banks (internet banking facilities) are registered in my internet banking. But they can be registered in my internet banking quite easily / quickly. I also have K+ on my mobile ple and the app for BBL on my phone, but I keep on both quite low, and top it up as needed. Not difficult to manage all of the above and keep any risk very low. -

White Culture
The assumptions are invalid. Some are laughable. For example, "heavy focus on the British Empire." Seriously? Germans were once one of the largest ethnic groups in the USA. They now account for 12% of the US ethnic background. Italians are 6% . Neither has historically had much focus on the British Empire. Latinos make up 19% of the US population. Its a mix of multiple cultures . Spanish and many South Americans cannot be compared to cultures such as Hondurans or Mexican. A large portion of the population is "European" in its culture. And then you have the Asian cultures. The work and value ethics of Koreans and japanese can hardly be compared to those of some other Asians. -

Linear actuators? Quality criteria? Where to buy?
I think about building a TV stand with linear actuators. The idea is that the TV is near the floor when it is not used and is pushed about 80cm up vertically if I want to watch it. I would build such a stand with aluminium profiles 3030 or similar. The TV weights 20kg. According to AI two actuators with each 200N should do the job. I looked in Lazada and they have i.e. this model. This is up to 450mm long, maybe that is good enough for me and I can use two on each side. JS-TGZ-U1 Linear Actuator Electric DC Motor 30mm/s 300N 12VDC IP45 Actuator | Lazada.co.th Cost for the 450mm version is 1,173THB. I am familiar with electronics, Arduino, etc. I am sure I will be able to wire them up and remote control them. Did anybody here use those things before? What are the quality criteria? If I want to use these in average not even 10 times per day, is this "Made in China" good enough? Any ideas and suggestions are welcome. -

Medicare v Private Health Insurance - Different strategies - Are you covered?
The topic of relying on Medicare in Australia for major medical treatment, versus private health insurance, either in Thailand, or Australia, has been raised in the Aged Pension Thread, which off topic in that thread. Two members have suggested starting a specific thread on the topic. The below is not a poll, just some questions that may categorize members, and perhaps they can explain why they have chosen their particular strategy. 1) Do you have private health insurance covering you in Thailand? 2) Do you have private health insurance in Australia? 3) Do you have private health insurance in both Thailand and Australia? 4) Are you uninsured? 5) Are you self insured, or self funded? If I have missed an option, feel free to post it. I have private health insurance in Australia, and in Thailand. I have openly stated I do not have faith in the public Medicare system in Australia to properly treat me, and in a timely manner. The main reasons for this is you do not get to chose your doctor, so you could get someone very inexperienced, or not as competent, and the waiting list for elective surgery being years for some operations. I know I can not claim on the Australian private health insurance policy inside Australia. My strategy is, if I need some type of elective surgery, like a knee or hip replacement, I will fly back to Australia, get a top surgeon, and my own room in a private hospital, and the operation will be done within days, or weeks. The insurance company will pick up most of the bill. There may be a "gap" to pay, which I am prepared for. Should I have a motorbike accident in Thailand, for example, and need emergency treatment, to the point I can not board a plane, then I take my chances with what doctor I get in Thailand, and the insurance company pays the bill here. So, I am in group 3. -
