Pappa Dicks and Honey

Featured Replies

Any body out there remember Pappa Dicks bar and the original "Honey Club" that was demolished to make way for the original Holiday Inn, later to become the Grand View ???

A host of characters frequented both and I am wondering how many are left.

The original PD's was opposite a small temple, just down the road from Ram and then he moved to a shop house closer to the northern bus station.

I think PD died in about 1997.

RIP Richard Stoddart, I for one had some good times in your presence.

He was ex USAF Master Sargent and quite a character.

The Honey ??

That place can't really be discussed on this forum, but what a great place !!!

Anyone else ??

It was a popular stopping place for the hash house on their way back to town after their run. Some never made it home that night. That is what the big boys used to tell me

They must be dead or not reading Thaivisa.

Not reading thaivisa is preferable.........

I do remember the old shop house, he was a character and I remember what he said to me, I was a young pup and having a problem adjusting, He said, " Son you grew up with a Judeo-Christian ethic. You believe confession is good for the soul, a Thai will never confess nor admit to a wrong,, they can only lose face" It became simple for me and I understood instantly it was my cultural view, been here 37 years now.

I went to Pappa Dicks bar once. He was not there and the girls were not impressive that night. It was out of the way for me, so I never went back.
