Bt1 million offered for leads to arrest of Pattani oil smuggling ring boss

BANGKOK: -- Police Commissioner-General Pol Gen Somyos Pumphanmuang Monday offered Bt1 million a reward for anyone who could provide leads for the arrest of Sahachai Jiansermsin Jo, a businessman in Pattani who has been on the run on charge of oil smuggling.

Sahachai, alias Sia Jo, is suspected of having paid bribes to former Central Investigation Bureau chief Pol Lt Gen Pongphat Chayaphan and his accomplices to help facilitate the oil smuggling.

Public health ministry to declare Bamako as Ebola-affected

BANGKOK, 1 December 2014 (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health will declare Bamako in Mali as a new Ebola-affected area for surveillance purposes. The ministry will also withdraw Congo from its list since the country has been free from an Ebola patient for 42 days.

Deputy Permanent Secretary for Public Health MD Wachira Phengchan said Bamako in Mali would be declared an infected area after its Ebola patient number increased by one person last week. Congo would be the second area that the ministry deleted from the list. The first one was Nigeria, said the official.

Thailand’s main measure to tackle the disease is the monitoring of symptoms of every traveler who have traveled from the Ebola-affected areas. So far, the ministry has checked over 3,000 travelers and contacted 12 of them daily for 21 days after they left the areas.
