Report on 90 Day Report - Phuket Town

Not too bad - in and out in about 20 minutes.

Go to the office on the ground floor - door is on the left on the building.

Farang Immigration Volunteers check your papers (photocopies of usual 3 pages of passport) and give you a plastic ticket with a number.

Desk number 3 was the one they were using when I went.

The electronic numbering system was NOT being used.

The three illuminated rows of numbers on the screen did not change at all while I was there.

The guy on desk no. 3 (with a sign saying "90 Day Reports") simply called out the number of the next customer.

Lots of people were waiting for other reasons. Nearly all the seats were full.

After about 15 minutes a lady started calling out numbers over the speaker system - ticket numbers and desk numbers. But that was for other types of visa, extensions, etc, not for 90 Day reports.

Had to wait for 4 people in front of me. The first took a long time - don't know why, but the guy was scrutinising her papers for a long time.

Then the next 3 went quickly, and so did I.

Not such a nightmare as I was led to believe by others (not people on this forum).

The extension next year may be a different story though.

Did you need the contract from your landlord, their id copies, etc etc etc?

No. Those documents may now be needed for one year "extensions of stay", I believe, but that requirement may change by the time I have to do that next year.

Did not need for my extension yesterday, even with new passport. Mind you I do a marriage visa & the wife was there which may make a difference compared to retirement visas. I thought I saw you upstairs briefly yesterday, either that or your doppleganger.

Very similar experience for my 90 day report about 2 weeks ago, also took about 20 minutes. Very crowded, people standing, but the wait for 90 day report processing was reasonably quick. Also free (unlike my last one at Patong, which cost 100 Baht). smile.png

That's good news, as there was some talk of needing those documents, but I think some people were talking about Address Certificates in a thread about Extensions. rolleyes.gif

I went upstairs for a couple of minutes yesterday to see what was going on up there and to check with the farang volunteer that he was not dealing with 90 day reports. That was about 2pm. But it may not have been me you saw as I noticed a lot of equally hansum men hanging around at that time.

I normally don't criticise Pattaya Immigration as things usually work very smoothly. This week, however, the place was heaving, with Public holidays looming. The 90 day desk had three officers working. The one on the left was hiding behind a sign saying 'Myanmar, Laos. In the 45 minutes I stood watching, he saw 3 customers; checked out an extensive briefcase of wrist watches; did some stuff on his phone and moved his sign about a lot.

The middle officer had a pile of charity envelopes and a photograph which his customers were shown then 'encouraged' to donate. 100 baht seemed to be the preferred rate.

The female officer on the right worked cheerily and non-stop. She smiled and did her job efficiently.

Is this a metaphor for all of Thailand?

Had my 90 day report this morning, initially I thought "oh my god what a nightmare" which turned into "excellent service, in and out approx 15 mins" up stairs though they were queuing well outside the door, hope that settles down for my re-newal next September!

Upstairs again? It was downstairs earlier.

Haven't been upstairs since September so have no idea how fast the queue was moving, saw the queue as I was driving out the gate, downstairs had a queue but it moved very quickly.

What a cluster <removed> today. I got there at 10, lines so long. I got to the door by 11. No numbers given at 11. What is going on there now?

What a fiasco.

A friend of mine was there Wednesday, too. He said it took him from about 10:00am to 4:00pm to get his one year extension paperwork done and then he went back today (Thursday) to pick up his passport.

He also had to complete a new form that results in another slip stapled in his passport that looks like a 90-day report but states:

"Have Received Notification Of Aliens Address From ....." (in all capitals)

followed by

"Who Notify Their Residence Where Aliens Have Stayed ...." (in all capitals)

The only good news was that he was quite surprised to see the 100 baht change - from the 2,000 baht he paid - still in his passport.

My GF did my 90 day report at Patong yesterday.

Took about 10 minutes, they only wanted the passport, not copies, and didn't ask for any other (residence) forms of any kind, nor fees..

Things seem to have settled down.

90 days report today 0900am, Total time from opening door to lock it after me 00:12:46 so that was easy and should be IMOsmile.png .

However to more I see the Immigration expanding, masses with people queing up for their services, I get more a feeling of being at a integration camp than Immigration centre. sad.png

90 day at Patong 10.30 today. In and out in 3 minutes. No 'fee' asked.

Does Patong do only 90 day reports? Is that why Phuket Town is so busy with all the other extensions, renewals, etc?

Patong also handles tourist extensions, certificate of residence, and I think they also do the re-entry permit. They don't handle the one year extension (married, retired, work, ed).

Let me guess... the guy on the left was working fairly hard, and the two on the right were on their phones, playing solitaire on the computer or dealing with the tip-paying agents.

Maybe you could identify them...

Yes, you're right, but those guys sitting look very much like the two who used to sit on the right side of the front desk upstairs, and now work downstairs - again on the right side.

But I could be wrong of course.

My experience last Tuesday December 23, goals, 90 day check and re-entry permit.

Get there at 9:30AM place was packed ! I mean jammed with people, so much so, people waiting outside. Get through the throng to the desk in back, already have my copies, and re-entry form made out with photo. I get a plastic number for the 90 day, I get a printed out number for the re-entry.

Plastic number for 90 day #33 and they are on 21 (ugh), printed number 255 and it's at 229. Double ugh at this point, hoping to be back in my office for 2nd cup of coffee at 11AM at this point its 9:50.

Stooge alert are the people who are not paying attention to the 90 day guy calling out the queue numbers "26"! "26"! O.k. "27", well guy number 26 shows up at 29 call, should issue those people a new number and make them wait again.

Did make the 11AM coffee, whole ordeal took just over an hour.

Yes, downstairs is for 90 day's and extensions. Upstairs is for long term extensions etc.

Yes, desk "number 3" I think it is labelled, with a "90 Day Reports" sign stuck to the front.

The two officers in the picture used to do 90 day reports when they were done upstairs, and when all the front row desk guys would do them.

Then the numbering system was started and those two appeared to stop doing those reports.
