Large Satellite Dish on the roof - any suppliers?

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

I am moving to a new house and wanted to set up a large satellite dish on my house (I used JSAT a few years ago and it was great but I think they do not sell satellite dishes anymore). The reason for the large dish is to get all the free-to-air Chinese channels we can get in Bangkok.

Anyone would know of a supplier of large satellite dish? It does not have to be moveable. I checked PSI and it seems that they do not have any.

Thank you for your help,

GJ

Satellite dishes are about dead(thats why big sellers stopped)

its moved on to IPTV (google it),which is better, no need for dishes,

boxes, just stream from your PC or buy an Android box,see LAZADA,

Well, you may not see many big (or little) satellite dishes in highrise cities where they are not allowed on many buildings/condos but they are alive, well, and growing out in the suburbs and provinces. Heck, I have C/KU band satellite dish TV and cable TV in my western Bangkok home.

PSI sells plenty of dishes...they are the largest satellite dish and C/KU band setup box manufacturer in Thailand....PSI is the dominant satellite equipment provider in Thailand. Gosh, I see satellite TV stores everywhere. Just look/ask around some more...you find someone in your area. And just for FYI, here's a link to 9sats.com in Bangkok that sells tons of satellite TV equipment like dishes, but they don't install equipment as far as I know...lots of satellite TV shops get their equipment from 9sats.

Oh, and one reason a lot of these terrestrial digital TV coupons the govt mailed out are "not" being redeemed is because people have instead opted for free C band satellite TV and the coupons can only be used for terrestrial digital TV settop boxes or TVs with DVB-T2 built in. I asked several of my mother in laws neighbors in a nearby province have they used their digital TV coupon yet...they said no, because they already have a C band satellite dish reception and don't need (or can afford) a new TV right now....plus a few of them actually know there are only around 3 dozen terrestrial digital TV channels they "might" be able to receive but they get over 200 channels right now on their C band dish with most of those terrestrial TV channels included in satellite broadcast also. The MIB has C band dish for her TV reception.

As said it has not stopped and 50% of my suburb Bangkok village have moved to such C-Band antennas within the last year as very reliable and free unless you opt for pay stations added - and they are everywhere in Bangkok - most apartment buildings that would not allow individual will have a large unit provided for use.. There are over 200 free channels available using Thaicom bird but not sure what you mean by "Chinese" as it is Thai except for some from Laos and Burma and a few from India. As far as "large" goes you only need 1.5 meter dish in Bangkok so not really very big. And they are installed by city wide outfits and local shophouse places all over the city. I would recommend using local shop - we found them better (have 7 TV's operating from one dish). There are 3 or 4 providers/receiver systems available with GMM and PSI being two of them. But you can mix and match to what you want with same antenna if using same bird.

Check the video/audio subforum above for more information.

Sat dishes in Thailand are far from dead.

Its still the number one source for TV reception for most Thais outside the densely populated areas.

Small setup cost, no runnig (monthly) cost/fee at all.

And even in big towns you see an awful lot of them.

Even in our district village mics. shops sell big and small satellite dishes and they are able to install/setup for a certain satellite (fixed position).

Free-to-air Chinese channels can be received with just one of those cheap/simple sat receivers.

No rocket science.

If you tell where you live, maybe one can give you a specific address.

If you could name the satellite you received in Bangkok I could tell what satellite dish size is necessary.
