Highly unlikely - phone first.

Most UK and other Embassies throughout the world are closed on national holidays of the UK and the country they are located in.

Am i correct in interpreting the above that when there is a national UK holiday, the embassies of every country in the world are closed too ?

The Embassy does not close for all public holidays. Although it sometimes seems that they are always on holiday, they ( all FCO posts) are able to close only for a certain number of days each year. I think it is 14 days, or it used to be. So, the Embassy, depending on which country it is in, can choose which public holidays on which they will close. Obviously, they will close for Christmas and New Year, etc, but they can choose the other local holidays. So, this year they closed for the King's Birthday, but not for Constitution Day. Next year they might close for Constitution day, and be open for Royal Ploughing Ceremony Day.

The full list of British embassy, Bangkok holiday closures for 2015:-

The Embassy will be closed on the following office holidays in 2015:

Thursday 1 January

Wednesday 4 March

Friday 3 April

Monday 6 April

Monday 13 April

Tuesday 14 April

Wednesday 15 April

Monday 1 June

Wednesday 12 August

Friday 23 October

Monday 7 December

Friday 25 December

Monday 28 December

Thursday 31 December.

As can be seen from the following, they are not closed for every England and Wales public holiday. Scotland and Northern Ireland have some public holidays which England and Wales don't have; but the embassy isn't closed for all of them either.

Neither are they closed for every Thai public holiday.

Moral; if you want to know when any embassy is going to be closed; don't guess, check their website!
