Confused About a Multiple Non-Im O

Featured Replies

My Mother received a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant O visa, issued on January 22, 2014.

It says "Enter before January 21, 2015".

She arrived in Thailand on Jan 27, 2014.

She took a day trip to Burma on March 1st, 2014 crossing over and back on the same day.

She departed Thailand for the US on April 16th, 2014.

She is now considering returning to Thailand in early January, 2015.

If she arrives in Thailand before January 21, 2015 will she receive a stamp allowing her to stay for 90 days?
OR

if using this visa, must she depart Thailand within January 21, 2015 because that is the expiration date of the visa?

I imagine that it is the former, but I wanted to get some other opinions before telling her that she doesn't need to get a new visa!

Thanks for any insight!

You understand correctly. She can enter on or before January 21 and get another 90 day Permission To Stay. But she needs a plan.

After January 21 she will not be able to leave and return unless she gets a Re-Entry Permit while she is here, and that permit will only keep alive her existing Permission To Stay.

Got it. Awesome. Thanks for the reply. I think the plan is for her to stay just under three months before returning to the US so the re-entry permit should not be an issue. Thanks again!
