I have a two week old letter from the UK embassy confirming my income and would like to know how long it is valid for, re jomtien immigration office?

Should I be granted an extension of stay, would it be valid for as long as I continue to submit the appropiate forms and payment every 90 days?

I will need to return to the UK for a period of 5-6 months, and when I obtain the appropiate permission to leave (keeping my extension valid) what will happen on my return? Will airport immigration give me 90 days or what??

normally a income-letter like yours, should be valid for 6 months. But it differs between different immigration officies.... What concerns the rest of what you write it all sounds fishy and questionable if you at all understand the process here.

I think you shall wait for Ubonjoe or other specialists to have a more precise answer in terms of how this works for you....

An income letter is valid for 6 months. You might find an odd immigration office that will say otherwise but it is official policy for the 6 months.

You don't get an extension every 90 days. I think you are confusing reports of staying in the country longer than 90 days with extensions. You will get an extension of stay valid for one year.

You need a re-entry permit to keep your extension valid if you want to travel. A single re-entry permit costs 1000 baht and a multiple 3800 baht. The re-entry permit will be valid up to the date your extension ends. When you enter the country you will be given a permit to stay up to the date your extension ends.

Thanks ubonjoe for your reply.

I will pop along to Jomtien and confirm with them about the 6 month validity.

So an extension of stay is actually a 1 year extension with 90 day reports to to the immigration office within that period?

When I leave the country I must return within the 1 year anniversary of the start of the extension? or have to start the process all over?

Jomtien uses the 6 month rule for income letters.

You have to be back in the country before your extension expires to get a new one or you will have to start all over again,

Just another question.

When the 1 year extension is due for renewal, does the whole procedure have to be repeated?

ie. new embassy letter,up to date pension statements etc??

Afraid it does. But Jomtien do allow a fresh extension of stay to be applied for up to 45 days before the expiry date of the current extension - from which the new extension will still be dated regardless.
