Are you frightened of getting older?

When I was a teen, I was very anxious to grow up, have a business, make money and live in luxury as people lived in the films.

When I was 45 and at the peak of my career, I had the money but I wanted to be younger and attract younger women.

Now at 67, something is not going very well.

I started being frightened of getting older.

Nothing much has changed from 45, except some hair (welllll most), falling from my head and at the same time nose and ear hair growing in an uncontrollable rate.

Lots of wrinkles have appeared on my face and I can promise you all the lift and firm creams in the world do nothing to stop them.

The belly is getting rounder and bigger by the day while the once powerful muscles started flopping.

I said muscles, don’t let your imagination go wild.

I used to be proud of my physique, now I’m frightened even to look in the mirror.

I hate when I’m in a bus, or a public place and younger people and even young girls offer their seats for me to sit down.

I hate when I’m eying young girls and they in return give me a smile and tell me; Hello grandpa………..

The brain, hasn’t changed much from when I was a teen, but;

I don’t want to get older, I want to stay young forever and ever…………………..

What about you, dearest members, are you being frightened of getting older?

How do you cope with this unwanted situation?

Have you found the secret of life? The secret of being young forever?

And this reminds me of some wise answers given to questions about older age that I would like to share with you.

Most of them old, but it’s worthy to have a look once more.

Q: Where can single men over the age of 60 find younger women who are interested in them?

A: Try a bookstore, under Fiction.

Q: What can a man do while his wife is going through menopause?

A: Keep busy. If you're handy with tools, you can finish the basement. When you're done, you will have a place to live.

Q: Someone has told me that menopause is mentioned in the bible... Is that true? Where can it be found?

A: Yes. Matthew 14:92:

"And Mary rode Joseph's ass all the way to Egypt..."

Q: How can you increase the heart rate of your over-60 year-old husband?

A: Tell him you're pregnant.

Q: How can you avoid that terrible curse of the elderly wrinkles?

A: Take off your glasses.

Q: Why should 60 plus year old people use valet parking?

A: Valets don't forget where they park your car.

Q: Is it common for 60-plus year olds to have problems with short term memory storage?

A: Storing memory is not a problem, Retrieving it is the problem.

Q: Where should 60-plus year olds look for eye glasses?

A: On their foreheads.

Q: What is the most common remark made by 60-plus year olds when they enter antique stores?

A: "Gosh, I remember these!"

I'm only 49 and I'm worried already. Can still pop a woody though.

Yes my friend, it's a sad realization that we are all aging. Keep the mind alive and you will muddle thru it. My only solace with the young is that they too will age. Haha

I'm fast, fit and good looking. I have all my hair.

Probably put most of the younger crowd here to shame really.

I'm not scared of getting old, bring it on.

Nothing lives forever Costas......everything, absolutely everything gets to die at some point.

Nothing is permanent.

We are all on the conveyor belt of life, and age is nothing but a number, its your mental attitude that you can change anytime you want. Think like an old man and you will become one.

Prayer for Senility:

God grant me the senility
to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

No fear here. 46 now, in 4 years timme semi-retirement at 50, full retirement can be taken at 55....bring it on....

If you take care of yourself, there's nothing to fear. Over the past 5 years I've began to pay a lot more attention to my lifestyle, as in what I eat, drink, how much I smoke, how much exercise I take daily. I probably feel better now than I did through my booze and fast food fuelled 20s and 30s.

Besides too long?

I seem to be becoming a nicer person as I get older, so I'm curious where all this is leading.

I do worry about being a burden if I'm ever too old to take care of myself.

My father had dementia; but my mother is sharp as a tack at 88, and I'm hopeful I'll follow in her footsteps.

I'm not afraid of dying, but I lack confidence in my spiritual preparedness.

I think I need more time here to work my resume.

I'm still rocking.

Even done a pole dance or two.

Swung a girl between my legs and over my head since I turned 59.

Old? No.

I've had a lot of fun, old enough now, not all that bothered about leaving, hoping it will be quick and unexpected though.

A FEW years ago it worried me ,now well the thing that worries me is leaving the wife behind, she is a lot younger but will be devastated when I go ,as will my daughter, now what worries me is more the manner of my death, let's hope it's like my man,in her 80s sitting in the chair ,book on her lap and a cup of tea on the floor beside the chair.

I don't worry about getting older. I AM older. You want to worry about your health at any age, that's a good worry to be going on with.

still nothing to worry yet(you know my age)...but i have to admit i feel the difference between now and 20 years ago( i mean physical)...the only thing I'm scared of is to work another 20 years...

I just wish someone could tell me how long being old is going to last ???

Hey, we are all gonna go. The only question is how. That is my chief concern. I once saw a guy die of a (I guess) heart attack in the middle of a parking lot on a blistering hot day surrounded by a gaggle of tourists (it was in Florence, Italy). Somehow I can't shake that image.

Getting?

I'm already old, one of the most annoying aspect of which is people blathering on and on about, "Oh, you're not old" or " You're only as old as you feel," or some such nonsense. Stop with the patronizing Hallmark moments, already. It's not a disease, as far as I'm concerned, nor a handicap. If some 50 year old kid wants to get up and give me his seat or hold the door for me, it's not a problem. And especially in Thailand I don't seem to encounter all the negativity some TV posters are always going on about. Maybe it's because I look like I'm 100 in their youthful Thai eyes. OK by me.

I feel old. I look old and I am old. It took me a long time to get here and I'm enjoying it. I have no desire to pretend I'm 10 or 20 years younger than I am. I find that sort of delusional behavior truly pathetic in others.A 65 year old with jet black hair and squeezed into blue jeans and a wife-beater is really depressing to see, especially with his arm around a 20-year old who looks like she's 16. I wonder if they live in homes with no mirrors and dim lighting.

30, 40 and 50 were somewhat difficult mile stones to deal with, but after that it's been pretty clear sailing. Most of my life I apparently did look younger than my actual age, but now I'm pretty sure I look every minute of my age and probably then some. Each year when I get new passport pictures for my extension of stay the wrinkles have multiplied and gravity has not treated me kindly. It's sort of liberating. Hey, embrace it. Enjoy it. Work it for all it's worth.

I have the same feeling. She is very young and a jewel. I am always afraid that her next man would mistreat her.

After seeing the aftermath of a office girl get run down and killed on asoke yesterday, my fear is not about getting old...but not getting old.

OK ... I fess up. I still chase skirt here. Mind you the ATM makes em easy to catch.... But recently a young lady said " your not to bad for an old man"

That has to hurt.

Yes, i am frightened of getting old. But i am not frightened of dying. Yet.
