Scratches would look better than ghastly chromed plastic covers surely?

I would like to remove all the chrome from my truck, starting with the mirrors and front grille. Rear bumper can come later. Maybe paint? Never tried that rubberized stuff but seems very expensive here (800 baht a can) for something that sells for 3 dollars in the US.

Unfortunately not quite $3 closer to between $7 and $9 per can depending on where you buy it? [but] still more expensive relatively speaking. I've been using it quite a bit lately for trim repair on some used cars I have, it lays down nice, covers imperfections well, is hard to screw up frankly, looks ok when done, getting an even semi-gloss if you use their gloss over coat finish is almost impossible and it dries really quickly to make the job scoot along nicely, my best tip is to use a hair dryer on it and it both smooths out nicely and dries quicker as it has a tendency by it's nature to be a bit chunky if you don't use a bit of heat to get it to lay down nicely. I'd also use it in the hot sun and or get the part to be painted nice and warm first being careful if the part is plastic of course, but just sunlight temp is my meaning.. It has it's advantages but it is very delicate unlike how they advertise it, it is almost too easy to tear off in many applications and if it's been scratched once then moisture gets underneath, not only does it begin to blister off slowly delaminating but while that's happening it is trapping moisture underneath and causing corrosion or rust or whatever if it's on an unprotected metal. I can not see doing all the work and having it on very large surfaces on the exterior but maybe a few trim pieces that won't have too much exposure.

I've test painted my front grill like you want to do and so far so good for a little over a month now but my grill was painted plastic, so I may do a bit more, but washing and caring for it is again a bit complicated as rubbing too hard when cleaning can be problematic, (when I say "too hard" I mean barely normal pressure not like a mad person) especially if there is a small chip you don't take notice of before hand, but in any case you will scratch it if you don't tear it completely off and I'd never think about PSI washing or even a high pressure hose nozzle for that matter, it would end in tears or throwing things. Over chrome though it would either need a very thick coating (min 4 or more coats as it doesn't cover well because it's so thick it doesn't spread and too thick a coat it gets really clumpy) to be durable enough or it will certainly blister off as it will not bond well to chrome, it is too much like glass which it does not bond to at all.

Try BOY accessories on the left side as you approach Pattaya from Bangkok, I can't remember if it before or after McDonalds.

Is there anyone else but Boy? I've been asking the same question for a couple of weeks now, does anyone else do sports lids for pickups besides Boy?

Really? I didn't know that it was that special. In that case scratches would look better than chromed covers.

If it's a blokes ride, scratches, if a birds ride, chrome thingy.........bah.gif

Scratches give a truck character, trucks are for working with, if they don't have scratches someone might think they own it just to go get groceries or go to the pub with or something equally humiliating to the poor work truck. thumbsup.gifcoffee1.gif So chrome covers out, scratches in..

Funniest line in a redneck song this year :)

Do any of you folks know where I can find a nice accessory shop in BKK? I'm looking specifically for gas struts for my hood and tailgate and other functional parts/tools.
