Ok, we have the family coming around for xmas eve and I want to make some delicious salads other than the usual types everyone knows.

So if anyone here knows and is willing to share a fantastic salad recipe, I would really love to hear what it is!

Thanks! :)

You didn't mention the ethnicity of the people visiting. Dancing Shrimp or Fried Crickets may not be to their liking.

People generally like foods that are familiar to them (hence the bastardization of Thai food dishes abroad).

Are you open to Veggie, Fruit, Pasta, Jello/Pudding, Nuts, Beans, Grains, Meats, Egg... ?

Ingredients that can easily be found in Thailand?

Yes any salads that you find delicious really.

Perhaps family favourite salads.

Your own salad creation.

Even mums awesome salad she always made.

Basically something other than the usual and something more complex than just lettuce.

We have been eating a variation of a greek beet root salad:

Mixture of differant lettuces and fresh spinich

We bake fresh beet root, eggplant and zucchini, cool and slice

feta cheese of course

red, green and yello capsucum sliced thinly

thinly sliced red onion

Tomatoe and onion

Top with a simple vineragette

My favorite salad that I make at least once or twice a week:

1. Rocket or mixed-herb or baby lettuce mix (rocket is my fav as has a nutty taste but any mix of what you like will do)

2. blue cheese (just take some and break it up and sprinkle into the salad mix bowl

3. Walnuts (fresh raw non-toasted non salted) again, just break-up and sprinkle into the bowl (can also candy them if you want...easy to do...search internet/?YT)

4. Dried cranberries, fresh blue-berries, fresh raspberries (can have one or a mix of one or more...just be careful not too many raspberries as they are a bit tart)

5. Avocado, green apple, or pomelo segments (optional and if available). The green apple give a nice tart crunch to the salad.

6. Grilled chicken breast (optional). this makes it a more filling salad dish and maybe even a light meal for the lady guests. Just season the chicken and grill it...let it cool and slice and put on top

7. Homemade balsamic vinaigrette...or your favorite dressing.

Lovely!

food. com or allrecipes. com have salad recipes (also every course following the salad) by the hundreds, most with user reviews.

plus there's likely a hundred other sites similar. those are just the 2 i happen to use.

that's what i'd suggest.

btw....making a caesar salad tonight with home made croutons. recipes both from above.
