Dhanin proposes cash giving instead of New Year parties

BANGKOK: -- Dhanin Chearavanont, Chairman and CEO of Charoen Pokphand Group, Wednesday proposed that companies give cash to their workers instead of throwing New Year parties for them.

The amount of money should be tax deductible, he added. He said the workers would spend the cash buying goods and thus effectively reviving the sluggish economy.

Dhanin proposed the idea to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha while the two were attending an exhibition of grand sale fair for the poor at the Government House.

Doesnt the guy understand that by throwing newyears parties the economy gets stimulated too. Its not like the food and drinks and entertainment comes for free. Maybe he just wants to see it spend on different sectors.

I do wonder what he means with money given to employees should be deductible, i don't know of a country int he world where salary is not deductible. Maybe he means that the gift should not be taxed for wages tax or something like that.

What he means is that by parties his company does not benefit from them as much as when workers get cash who buy food made by CP or spend their money in 7-11.

Kind of like how the Walton family prefer it when there are more Americans on food stamps
