Lite Beer Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 NIDA Poll shows most people support non-partisan premier during political crisis BANGKOK: -- More than 46 percent of respondents support directly-elected prime minister and over 65 percent agree that the Election Commission’s powers need to be curbed whereas 72 percent support a non-partisan prime minister at a time when the country is embroiled in political crisis. The above is the result of an opinion poll conducted by the National Institute Development Administration during December 24-26. Altogether 1,253 people of different occupations from across the country were polled.The poll also shows the following results: 47.25 percent disagree with a proposal that permanent secretaries serve as ministers and they select one among them to be interim prime minister before an election because this not the responsibility of the officials.65.36 percent of the respondents agree that the EC should not be allowed to issue “red cards” to candidates who cheated in n election but the power should rest with the court of law for the sake of transparency. But 30.49 percent disagree with this proposal.52.43 percent agree that the president of the parliament should come from the party which won the most seats in the election but the vice presidents must come from parties which won the second and third most seats respectively. This is actually shocking news! The Nation 2014-08-11: Master Poll's latest survey showed that 84 per cent of local leaders believe Prayuth should assume the PM's role.
