Cast Iron Skillet

Recommended Posts

I am very seriously convinced that new cast iron skillets are worthless compared to the antiques. Many are made in China.

The antiques have a better grade of iron. They are machined and polished on the inside so that they can be seasoned with oil, grease or shortening so things won't stick.

I found I could buy antiques on Ebay just as cheap as I could buy new in a store and that's what I did. There were millions of them made and they aren't rare.

I agree it's great to cook with. Griswold and Wagner were premium brands.

Happy New Year.
