You need to show that:-

1. you are related as claimed
   
2. you have enough room in the house for your son
   
3. you have enough of an income to take care of him
   
4. you have been active in his upbringing (either financially or emotionally)

a very late post on this subject had the jitters at the time but all came good

in the end, son now living and going to school in uk, visa was a very stress free

experiance
