you could do with a pick up or a minibus this end. and then in the uk upgrade is the car you are given is not big enough.

its for a taxi more the sixe of each as the weight. IF you ever have used BKk taximeters, you must have noted most of the backtrunk is taken by the gas cilinders.

Thai can easily get with 6-7 in a taxi, assuming you have double weight/size, 3 could also squeeze-1 in front-2+1 trunk backseats, 2 trunks, hopefully, in the back.

vans or other bigger thingies do have to be ordered advacne.

im looking for advice form people with experience. upgrade may not be possible and to get a car that - according to hire company info - takes 3 cases would cost 200% more than a standard car.

the point of the question is too find out in advance. of course any person with two brain cells knows that they may - or may not be able to upgrade. what happens if no bigger car is available. not to mention to massive cost.

Book a "big taxi" or minivan in Bangkok but for UK I have never been there ! 30 kilos are quite large suitcases and with 3 passenger you have to make the best you can.

If you have a few days yet in Bangkok, keep your eye out for a hatch-back, wagon style taxis...there are quite a few around now. Approach the driver and get his number. He will probably be happy to make arrangements to pick you and your family up and will have room those bags. Expect that he will want to do it "off the meter" but if his price is reasonable; perhaps 5 hundred baht or so, then worth while. The day before you leave, have somebody at your hotel who speaks Thai call him and confirm the arrangements.

if time is too short for that, just look for any GREEN&YELLOW taxi. Their phone number is usually posted on the rear window in large numbers. They are a large radio fleet and they can dispatch a large taxi for you if you request it. They have English speaking operators (most times but not always.) Better to call in advance.

Most hotel desk staff will have numbers for vans and large taxis...you will probably end up paying more but still probably worth it.

If all this somehow fails, call "Thai Happy Taxi" 084 115 8210 They will dispatch a limo or van that will hold everything. Very efficient and well run company with well maintained and clean vehicles as well as decent drivers. About B1000 Online at www.thaihappytaxi.com

I'm pretty sure they could fit one in the trunk and then 2 in the front seat. They've done this with me before. Just moved the front seat back for more room.

The drivers are quite creative. But for comfort, find one with a larger car. Like mentioned above.
