When you’re in a hurry to find your personal flight info, it turns out you can turn to Google.

the trick is: If you’re logged into your Gmail account and type the words “flight status” into Google,

the search engine will pull up your personal flight info including your confirmation number, seat,

terminal, every email associated with that flight and more.

That’s if your email address was used while booking your flight.

That's scary

definitely scary.

But I am sure the NSA, the THAILIBAN, the Catholic church and your mother-in-law will be more than happy for ways to track your travels easily whistling.gif

That's scary

Yes, it is. Booked a hotelroom in Khon Kaen (Agoda) and received the confirmation in my gmail account.

Driving in Khon Kaen I used Google Maps and the hotel showed up with my booking info...

Scary stuff...

Why is it scary? Only you can see it because you're logged in. If they didn't allow you to see your email details there wouldn't be much point having email. Anyway, this doesn't work for me even though I'm logged into my Google account. I assume you have a gmail account, which I don't.

True. Once you use any of Google's features whilst logged in, pretty much everything is synced to Gmail, Google +, Google Maps etc.

2 ways of looking at it....

1) Very convenient if you're using Google (especially on an Android device) as it saves you time and effort.

2) Very intrusive if you want to retain privacy

In the case of 1) Let the technology work for you.

In the case of 2) only use Google features if you don't mind (or actively want) this synchronisation. There are plenty of ways of keeping away from it if you're prepared to set up multiple email accounts etc.

Idnguy's comment shows that it doesn't affect him because he didn't book on a Gmail account.

You do have a choice even in the modern world.

And as a PS to the OP, I usually download my tickets, bookings etc to my laptop / tablet so I can find them even when I'm off line
